...today, out of the blue, my wife had a "surprise" December Clubcard statement which included £15 of vouchers to cover the 1500 points not in the November statement...

I had some "surprise" vouchers yesterday too that included missing points for the Instant Access account.

Just got a phone call from TPF having queried why the points (1500 of them!) had not been added. I got a letter yesterday saying that, as I already had an Internet Saver at the time, I am not eligible to receive the points from the Instant Access promotion. I did check with TPF at the time, though, and the lady who just called confirmed that I will receive the points 'as a goodwill gesture'. Didn't really take any convincing, but there must be a lot of people who can't be bothered to chase this up - ring them up and get your points! 1500 pts = £60 in Marriott vouchers, for instance! :money:

Reading through this thread, I am confused as to whether the points offer is , or is not, open to those who already have an internet saver account. Can anyone kindly clarify the current position? I did apply based on Dan's early assurances it was open, but if rules have changed and no points, its not worth continuing.

You are definitely eligible to receive the Clubcard points for opening the Instant Access account (subject to the opening date restrictions), even if you already hold an Internet Saver account with them.

Thanks. Do you have a reference to quote, by any chance?
  • Potentially confusing matters further but hopefully this clears it up: I don't think you are allowed this offer if you're already with TPF now. I was referring to the previous promotion (where you had to have £x in on 7th October 2009, and you would get 1500 points for balances over £10000 on this date). The leaflet I recently picked up from a Tesco about this promotion (cleared balance on 28 January 2010) specifically says 'The offer is open to new Tesco Savings customers only and is not available to customers who have opened a (any) Tesco savings account in the last 12 months.' The lady I spoke to also said this should clarify matters now, so I don't think you will be eligible. Nevertheless if someone else in your family hasn't yet got an account with them, they could benefit from this promotion.

Sorry, none other than the fact that I received my Clubcard points accordingly (for Instant Access account opened in August '09), based on the couple of posts that MSE Dan made towards the beginning of this thread, confirming that he'd checked this out with TPF a couple of times, and it was confirmed to him that the points would be available for new Instant Access accounts even if they already had an Internet Saver account.
  • I received the "surprise" statement but still no TPF points so far as I can tell.
  • I sent a letter to Tesco Clubcard who replied to say that I needed to contact Tesco Personal Finance myself. When I did they made a note and told me they were aware that some people hadn't received their points. A letter arrived a few days later apologising and saying that they would award the points which would appear in my February statement. I got a surprise statement a week or so ago but they wern't there.

I'm sure I'll get them, but not very impressed with Tesco after this. What's more I find their internet banking to be a bit of a pain (especially signing up) and I don't use it any more.
