According to Dan's ealier posts, Tesco staff should be aware of this. All you can do is to ring them again and insist on speaking to Customer Services/Complaints and ask for it to be escalated until you find someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

    Happy new year to all,

I have been talk to tesco finance again (I have a CS name and case number), and they are not going to give me the bonus point as they said the T&Cs was (august 2009) if I have internet saver then I wont qualify for the points for instant access a/c.
I think I am going to give up on this one, there is no point keep arguing unless Dan can provide some hard evident

I closed my Instant Savings account last week, does anyone know whether I would qualify for the Clubcard points if I opened another today?
I have called Tesco twice but received different answers!
    Thank you!

The £1,000 is just an example of what Clubcard points you'd benefit from for this balance. According to Tesco's website the minimum balance is £1 (interest rate of 0.75%, rising to 1.00% on balances of £10,000+).

OK thanks I understand now. I applied for one in Dec, its now open. Nothing in any paperwork recieved about the points offer though.

Bearing in mind that every time there has been one of these promotions previously at least one member of the family has had missing points, I started making telephone calls early in January to confirm that the 1000 points we were each due would be put on. The promotion I was referring to was sent to credit card customers, offering 1000 points points if you had a credit card and cc. (I did post about this offer on 18 Noember and don't know if anyone took it up.)

I was assured that the points would go on. Needless to say only DS got his. I did not get mine. I was (mistakenly advised) that DH had received his.

By the Friday afternoon before cut-off date, I was bored with being given the runaround. I telephoned the Chairman's office, explained the whole thing to someone and he automatically credited the account with 1000 points, which I saw the next day. I then contacted TPF a few days later to discuss my missing points. I received a puerile letter a couple of days later advising me that 1000 points had been credited to my account on Friday 22 January. I then rang the writer of the letter, asking her why she wrote to advise me of something I already knew. We finally settled with the account being credited with a further 1000 points. BTW, these did not go on, and I had to chase her for them!

On Wednesday, I rang CC to find out how many points DH had been awarded from TPF. There should have been 5000. 4 x 1000 pet insurance referrals and 1000 points for the internet saver. He only had 2000 points and these were both from pet insurance referrals. So, I got back on the phone to TPF to the lady who sorted out my missing points. She took all the details. Yesterday, I got a phone call from TPF explaining that there was an administrative error and the points would be manually input. I told her that was not good enough. She rang DH and offered him a further 500 points. Let's just see if any of these appear.

Like Yorkshireboy, we are making far more out of complaining, that we would have done in interest. However, that is not the point. Every time we open these accounts, we have to fight for the points.
  • I didn't get my points either and a letter to Clubcard didn't work. I can't be bothered to chase it any more, I shall simply avoid TPF products in the future!

my wife and I both got points. 1500 in total from last promotion :) 500 for my acc 1000 for wifes :)

So 60 quid in deals for shoving money into acc for 1 week.. then taking out again :)
  • Has anyone that applied for this account back in September and already had an internet saver account received there points?

I opened it on the 16th of September and had a cleared balance on the 7th October but still haven't received my points. I have contacted Tesco and they keep telling me that I wasn't elligble for the points because I already had an internet saver. This is despite the communication MSE Dan had with Tesco saying that existing savers would qualify. Was there a reference produced to quote to Tesco?

I have trawled this thread looking for answers (if I missed them sorry!) and I'm bit a disappointed in getting passed around departments in Tesco Personal Finance.

    Any advice would be excellent.

Not sure about the timing of this, re whether September offer should have paid out points by now, but I applied for this one in December and the applicable points are due in May, and are dependent on balance at 28th February (a couple of weeks from now).

Further to 23/12/09 post on this thread, now got both accounts set up, still got to sort out wifey's internet access (any day now for the registration code) and still to get card readers for both so that I can transfer the money back out after 28th February (should I chose to). But I can at least transfer cash to both accounts and therefore qualify for the 1,000 points on each account. One positive side benefit is that I can now view details and transactions of my Clubcard Plus account on-line.

Absolute pain in the proverbial, such a convoluted process, all for 2,000 points. But I've come this far and am determined to get there. Need to replace recently exchanged points for air miles (the double air miles first-time and one-time offer).

Although frankly it was a lot easier buying 2 of those Nokia 1208 mobiles at £14 a pop (and £10 free credit) to get 2,000 points...

Basis of it is as per the MSE article (search on Tesco 1000 points Instant Access - can't post the link as they won't let me...)

I also confirmed (only orally) at the time that I would still get the points even though I was already a CC+ holder.

We'll see - should it get messy, I'm for Dollywop's approach, if Mr Leahy (or one of his minions) be reading this...
  • Well I've applied for this in order to take advantage of the loophole and my goodness! Although there are loopholes to "exploit", this one certainly makes you jump through every single hoop it throws at you!
It's taken me over TWO WEEKS to finally get all this set up. It's ridiculous!
ALMOST at the point of "I shouldn't have bloody bothered" due to all the hassle just to set up an account.
