my date is the may 2nd (bank holiday here in NI but also in the south, and scotland) we had initally thought about the friday 29th april but one of the venues we were looking at already had a wedding that day so we then decided on the monday and it just happened to be the bank holiday!

worked out quite well for us, although because it's a bank holiday we're not getting a reduction from the hotel (which most other monday's would... they didn't have the friday 29th available either we checked that too!) but they did say they might negotiate on the price when we come to that time.

well i had to ask! :rotfl:

    hellloooooo,

I had to come and share with you all becasue I feel like I could burst!! I have beeen petrified about trying on wedding dresses but on Sunday I went to a bridal store open day with my mum with the intention to just have a look at dresses. It took me about 5 minutes to get more than 5 steps through the door but bribed with a goodie bag I was in and looking at dresses before I knew it!!

I picked out three dresses to try on and the ladies in the store were amazing!!! they knew I was apprehensive so gave me lots of time and privacy (which was very kind of them considering we popped into an open day and didnt actually have an appointment!) Out of the three, one I didnt like, one I liked but have now gone off and one, funnily enough the first one I put on I absolutely loved!!

now I know that I will not spontaneously combust if I step in a bridal store the hunt for the dress is on, but the bar has been set and It's gonna take some beating, surely THE dress won't be the first dress I tired on, or will it!?!!?

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk!!!
  • It could be... My dress is the first one I tried on. I made sure I tried some in styles I didn't think would suit me, just in case, but the one I loved before I tried it on turned out to be the one.
Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP
(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)

forgot to update - shoes can be ticked of the list! not only have i got a lovely traditional pair of ivory ones but i've got a lovely funky Iron Fist (I-Scream Purple Heel) pair to spend some time in as well. here are pics of both shoes

definitely getting a few pics of me in them funkies! hee hee

and also bit the bullet and went back to weight watchers (i've been a gold member for a while and need to loose 2 stone to get back to goal!)

glad i went back though at least i can get my weight down a bit and see how the dress fits and how much more i need to loose to make it be perfect!

    Hi Sam,

Welcome along! You're 2 days before me, May 14th in Hertfordshire Not quite as exotic as Maurtitius, although if we have any money for a honeymoon it is on our list of possible destinations!!

I ordered my dresses last Saturday, it's not sunk in yet, I can't help but keep peeking at pics of it!!!

Can't wait to build up to the big day with you! What colours your bridesmaid wearing??

    Speak soon

    Hi Cheekydi!!

It just hits occasionally that yes i am actually getting married! Scary, but in a good way:D

Only having one bridesmaid, she is wearing ivory the same as me (is my 8yr old daughter!) as i was worried about getting the right flowers/colours etc out there so thought this way i can go for some really colourful local ones for a splash of colour! That coupled with the scenery will hopefully look good!

What colours have you gone for? What style of dress?

    xx
