Oh ... hello ladies ... sorry for butting in but I have just come across this thread and thought I'd join

Another May Bride - Fri 27 May 2011 (another bank holiday weekend wedding)
We just got engaged a few months ago so this is all pretty new to me, as I'm sure is the case with most but I have a good lot done now at this stage ...

ALL BOOKED
- Reception/Hotel
- Chapel
- Band
- DJ
- Honeymoon
- Photographer
- Videograpger
- I know who is making the cake but need to decide on what kind ...

I have just made 2 appointments to look at wedding dresses for Fri 10th September and I am very excited about that, although I have no notion what I'm looking for ...

So once I get that sorted then all the major stuff is booked and just needs paying for (I say that like it's the easy part) ....

oooo you are all very organised! I am geting married 21st may and things seem to be moving on now!!!

Have met the vicar and confirmed the date and church!

Got my gorgeous jenny packham dress! It was a shop sample so £900 off and bought for me by my wonderful mum!

Found a beautiful reception venue and nearly sorted with our teepee!

My dad has a wedding car business and is going to drive me to the wedding and we have three other cars too! (for free!)

Have decided on our centre pieces which will be cakestand filled with cupcakes made by family and friends, people will then just help theselves!!!

My mums good friend is an amazing wedding phoographer and has kindly agreed to take our wedding photos!

Just so excited and wanted to share!!!!

Next jobs are: -

Source cakestands for table centre pieces!!! Was hoping charity shops but so far this has been fruitless!!!!!

We're hoping to join you! Looking at May 7th but only decided yesterday so it depends if we can find a venue we like that's available then. We're quite limited on dates due to OH having fixed holidays, if we can't do it then the next possibility is July or August and I don't want to wait till then!


It's already stressing me out, only wanted to have a small wedding but already at over 100 guests for the main reception!!!! OH has more on his list of friends than I have with my friends and family put together! I don't really mind but quite a few of them he never sees but has been friends with since school, if it was me I'd only invite the ones I see regularly but it's not worth arguing about! The other problem is kids but I'll not go into that....you'll all be bored to tears!!

Oh, and we're not even officially engaged yet, no ring or anything and he hasn't really proposed either, we've just discussed it and it looks like its happening! Hardly the makings of a romantic film but hey ho!!!

Thought I would give you all an update.....

.........Well after putting it off for as long as possible I thought i'd better get some of the plans sorted.

After our engagement on new years eve, we agreed a date of 29th May 2011 to fit around the school hols, although we put a deposit down for a venue in feb I have put off doing much else and have not been able to get motivated.... it's all a bit too girly and faffy for me!!

I have been dreading going looking for wedding dresses but made my first trip on Saturday with my mum and have to say I quite enjoyed it!!:j so much so that I have made some other appointments for next saturday as well.

It has also given me the motivation I need to get the other preparations underway so whilst having tea at pizza hut last night, me and hubby to be sat making a rough wedding list and today I have made a mock up invitation!

I know it probably doesn't seem like a lot and I've still got an awful lot to do to catch up with you but progress all the same

Hoping to try and get hold of someone tomorrow to find out where to get a full birth certificate from so we can arrange an appointment with the registrar.

Time for my periodic update, it's been about 2 months so I thought I'd see what we are up to now:

- venue booked
- registrar sorted and notice given
- hotel for night before and wedding night sorted
- photographer booked (doing us a deal but still £700 over budget, whoops )
- wedding dress ordered Here is dress: LINK will be in ivory though
- save the dates sent (used vistaprint)
- all stuff for wedding invites bought.
-bought shoes and a handbag which (almost) matches.
-honeymoon booked
-Dj booked
-Cake maker booked
-company booked for chair cover hire and a sweetie buffet instead of favours
- florist booked
-got some table crystals for scattering

things to do now

-Assemble invites + print info to put in invites
-Make sure H2b sorts out the bespoke suit he wants and suits for other guys
-sort out bridesmaid
-buy vases for table decorations (cheaper then hiring due to staff disc at florist's wholesalers )
-decide on hair/makeup/accessories

Hmmm, that's about it I think

Crikey you're organised! Saying that, I'm bound to be behind seeing as we only decided to do this last Wednesday! We are now definate members of this group! We have now booked the church for the 7th May bu we can change to Fri 6th if we want. We may do this as one of the reception venues we are going to lok at is only available on the Friday. we looked at one venue last night and it was very nice. They have pencilled us in for both dates and we have to weeks to let them know for definate if we want either of them. We're looking at other venues tomorrow, thursday and a week on thursday then we will decide.

I found THIS site quite helpful for letting me know what I should have done by when.. I want to have most stuff sorted by the end of the year so that next year it's just stuff like dress fittings and stuff like that to do so it's less stressfull... is the theory I guess we are lucky as well that we have the money to do it like that as well as it is just sat in the 'wedding account' waiting for us to pay out when we need to
