congratulations lucy,
we are date twins
Finding a caterer was a bit of a headache for me so having that sorted is a good start.
We aren't very far ahead of you in the planning, others on here are all sorted i think.
We have venue booked for reception and evening, dress is bought (needs alterations), caterers are now booked, cake is being made by my SIL. Flowers are the next mission.
I've found it easier to take one thing at a time and sort that before moving on to the next. I'm sure you'll find lots of help and advice on here.
Again congratulations and good luck with the planning0 -
Another 28th May bride here! :j
We only decided to get married about 8 weeks ago, after being together for 13yrs and engaged for 7yrs.
So far we have booked the registry office (i'm too nervous and shaky for a church wedding), the reception venue, sent the save the date cards out, bought my dress, got my flower girl and bridesmaid dresses, got the grooms, best man and my 2 pageboys cravat, waistcoat and wing shirts, started making my chair sashes, got some of the decorations for the reception and also got my shoes.
I have so much more to do and so little time (and money!!).Got Married on 28th May 2011 :j0 -
- venue booked
- registrar sorted and notice given
- hotel for night before and wedding night sorted
- photographer booked (doing us a deal but still £700 over budget, whoops)
- wedding dress ordered Here is dress: LINK will be in ivory though
- save the dates sent (used vistaprint)
- all stuff for wedding invites bought.
-bought shoes and a handbag which (almost) matches.
-honeymoon booked
-Dj booked
-Cake maker booked
-company booked for chair cover hire and a sweetie buffet instead of favours
- florist booked
-got some table crystals for scattering
-bought my wedding ring
things to do now
-Assemble invites + print info to put in invites
-Make sure H2b sorts out the bespoke suit he wants and suits for other guys
-sort out bridesmaid
-buy vases for table decorations (cheaper then hiring due to staff disc at florist's wholesalers)
-decide on hair/makeup/accessories
haven't done much since last update- except I bought my wedding ring which I had made to fit fluch against my engagement ring. I've also been thinking about hair and accessories etc. It's looking like I might make my hairband/vine thingy but it's a bit of a work in progress at the mo. Y'see- I fell in love with this:
but it's £595
so I'm working on making something 'inspired' by it. Several vines plaited together. Here is a vine I made:
So I'm gonna make a few of those, longer, and have them loosly plaited and attached to ribbon wrapped hairband. Well, that's the plan right now. We'll see how it goes. Or maybe I will win the lottery!! :rotfl:0 -

I was told black wasn't really suitable so went for the nearest thing! I have black shoes, bag and jewellery and am looking for a fascinator that's big enough to not get lost in my hair or mght go for the full blown hat :rotfl:Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December
