Hi JayJay,
I know exactly how you feel, I also get married on 14th May 2011! I too still have to shift some weight! I'm in the final stages of getting my make up artist down in price but she is amazing, I'm so excited. Also of to a photographers next weekend for a free photoshoot and to discuss wedding options and prices.
This weekend I'm off to Devon to celebrate my cousins wedding on Saturday. A year tomorrow and it will be us!! A year sounds like we have loads of time but I have a funny feeling it will be here before we know it!!
Don't worry about not having done 'enough', you've plenty of time and the less stressed you get over it the more you will enjoy it!I seem to be going in phases... do a bit.. have a rest then do a bit more that way I still get to enjoy non weddingy weeks!!!
Look forward to hearing everyones plans develop etc!!
Love to all x0 -
okay randomly wondering round ebay (when i should be working.... bad me) and came across this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140401274457
it's cadbury's purple (colour i want for my shoes and my bridesmaid dress) so i couldn't resist! price wasn't too bad either coming in at £5.49 inc p&p :j
I went to see florist today and made some decisions about flowers I want (though not necessarily that florist as I will do a little shopping around, but the price was good)
I want purple lisianthus for my bouquet
and also for OH's buttonhole
and then for my bridesmaid's bouquet and the other button holes I want varigated white/purple lisianthus
quite excited now I've decided what I want (sorry...we want)
She also quoted for a ceromony table display which we can move to the top table but the only criteria I have for that is 'purple and pretty' so she has a bit of creative rein on that.
Total cost for all this £195 and as I budgeted £200 this is quite good, though I will do a little shopping around0 -
Laura they are GORGEOUS!!!! A very very good choice!! :T:T:T0

laura, loving the flowers will have to file them in the "ideas" part of my wedding scrap book!
also updated news on the dress, went down today and tried it on and bought it, it's currently on it's way to my mum's house in my sisters car lol! so that's another thing to stroke of the list!0 -
Just thought I'd nudge this to the front page of the boards by making the following points:
1) This time next year, I'll be a married lady!
2) Next month will be my last birthday receiving cards addressed to my maiden name
Wooooo hooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

and yesterday I said 'this time next year we'll be married!''
Going to see someone about cake tomorrow. When I rang to book an appointment the guy asked me if they should make some cake for us to try...'err, yes! Otherwise my fiance probably won't come' :rotfl:0 -
Hi ladies, just thought I'd pop on and see how everyone is doing? how's the planning coming along?
We have booked a photographer after having our engagement pics done with her we were really happy with her work. I tried to haggle her down in price but she wouldn't budge so I got lots of things thrown in instead so I'm happy! Other half just ended up laughing at me as I was relentless in my haggling!
Also decided to change my make up artist to one which will cost me half the price of the original one! how very MSE.
I'm finally going to step inside a bridal store in July as there is an open day at one near my folks, figured an informal peek inside would help settle my nerves and then I can get some appointments lined up for later in the summer.
A local company has offered me a huge discount on a cake (she has just been given an award so I caught her in a good mood), but I still don't know if I can justify the money on a bespoke cake v's a M&S one which I already know how I would decorate.
Despite the fact that we are getting good deals on things the budget seems to be creeping up, I'm hoping that I can get a super barginous dress which will help bring it back under control! :S I've even sold my car the other weekend and put the money in the wedding ISA... I hope guests will remember my much loved vehicle on the day!!!! lol.
next task is the chore of addressing all the save the date cards and sending them out.... one of the less exciting jobs but it has to be done I guess!
so come on ladies... updates please!!0 -
okay the list of things i've managed to get done
- venue booked
- church & priest booked
- car booked (£20 off proper price)
- flowergirl dress bought (£20 off proper price)
- photographer (£550 off proper price & getting high res disk of all pics)
- wedding dress bought (£300 off proper price & here's the dress)
- save the dates bought, but still to be sent (£10 under budget)
- wedding invites designed but still to be made and should come in way cheaper than we anticipated & here's the sample)
things to do now
- get the list of addresses so we can send out the save the dates
- find a bridesmaids dress for my sister.
- hunt down a funky pair of shoes
- order petticoat for my dress and dye it!
- ordered some felt and buttons and i'm going to give making my own bouquet a go, if i'm not 100% sure on it i can use it as a tossing bouquet but i just think they're so pretty lol! until i give that a go i'm going to put my search for a florist on hold for the moment.
think that's pretty much it for the moment!0 -
