See I am a little worried as I don't want to find it yet lol!! I am also quite keen on getting a dressmaker to make me one as I'd like a style I could wear again, but that also means maybe not going for white.... But I want to try some on to see what suits me, and what I like.

Am I the only one who's petrified at the thought of even entering a bridal store?!??

Cheekydi - I completely agree! I shake just at the thought of it! I've got an appointment booked in June but I mainly plan on using it to break myself in - I'm not even sure I'm going to be able to see the dresses through my fear!

thank god it's not just me Laura..... don't get me wrong I want to find my dress, I just don't know how i'm going to do it!! I hate shopping at the best of times and the thought of even going in a bridal store makes me feel ill!! strange how things effect different people isn't it!? I think i'll just have to book an appointment and psych myself up to it!

i was putting off my first visit for wedding dress shopping too but i realised i had to start looking and boy was i lucky with the assistant i got. i had brought some pics of dresses that i liked so she tried to see if she had them but she was brilliant, utterly brutal about the dresses that didn't suit and managed to get me in and out of 9 dresses in an hour and half.

now after the first visit is done i'm happy enough to venture out to a few myself i just have to get organised and book a few appointments.

I was exactly the same- and you should have seen the beauty regime I put myself through for that first appointment. Anyone would have thought it was my wedding day :rotfl: Once you've done it once though.. it's not so bad :)

one hint the girl in McElhinney's told me is that take a good bra (even if it has straps) with you and even if necessary take take a "gut buster" (well that's my term for the all in one hold-er-iner lol) even if it doesn't look pretty at least it will let you know your shape better in the dress and also might help you get in to a smaller size of a dress you like just to see what it looks like on.

I did that, got a new strapless bra- went wearing the straps and removed them where necessary. Although a couple of the dresses were so well corseted the bra wasn't needed at all and looked better without ( the ladies were lovely, and discreet and don't need you to be standing there with everything hanging out!) Also, do fake tan (if you like that) and have your hair and makeup nice so you feel good when you go in :)

okay having a little bit of a happy/scared/excited moment here, i've found the dress i really really like (adelaide by maggie sottero), in a notice online that happened to be in a reputable bridal shop (i'd already made an appointment to go to them at the end of the month).

bonus is that the price is £250 cheaper than the normal price because it's an order that has come in but the bride has cancelled the order and it's the right size and the colour i was looking for!

i had promised myself to have a look at other dresses and a few more shops because i wanted to make sure that the adelaide was definitely the one for me but now i think this has to be a sign to just go for the dress because it's now actually with in my budget!

i emailed the lady today and she got back to me saying she still had the dress. i emailed her back as they're closed tomorrow so i can't phone! have asked to see if she could hold the dress for me till Saturday till i can get down to see her. :j:j:j:j:j

do i just run with it and buy the darn thing after i've seen it?

the OH and I also decided on our wedding invite as well, mocked one up on friday and he really liked it so i think we might finally have an agreed design!!!

spent saturday night out on a friends hen night so all in all it's been a heavily wedding orientated weekend :rotfl:
