I don't re-wash them if they've been rained on, but I do rinse and spin them again with some fabric conditioner.

But that's only if they were soaking when hanging on the line. If they're wetter taking them in than when I put them out then I re-rinse and spin. If they're only slightly wet I just hang them indoors when I take them in.

I'd never leave them out for days. On the very rare occassions when they've been left out overnight, I feel like a right lazy mare.

I wouldn't even think about re washing it and I have mild OCD!! Where does all our water come from in the first place? Rainwater is much purer than tap water, why else do pets prefer to drink rain water?

This thread is so funny! :D

I never rewash the clothes unless they have been out and rained on so many times that they are like cardboard (probably a bit like the divorced dad's clothes - bless him!)

I always plan for my washing to finish when I am home and take it out straight away. No, I am not neurotic, neither do I have too much time on my hands (the opposite) .... but I absolutely HATE ironing. :p

If you spin your clothes on the lowest setting then hang out straight away, you don't need to iron 99% of things :j If you are lucky enough to get a shower on them too, that means you don't have to iron the last 1% either - bonus.

The only thing I do spend more time on is folding the clothes before they go away, but this has saved me hours

Next time it rains, I'm going to hose down my garden and path with tap water, to get rid of all the 'dirt'....

  • Coming back to this thread as I hung some washing out yesterday about 6pm as it was not raining, went out for 3 hours and forgot to bring it in. It has ranined constantly today and the washing will stay out till it stops. Though if the Met office are to be belived this time that might be next year.

The only problem we folks who leave their washing out on the line for days might have, in these constant rainy days, if you nuse wooden pegs like I do, is to find that black damp mould marks might appear on clotches where they're pegged to the line.
  • I usually run to get the washing quickly if it starts raining but I have noticed some people just let it get wet again and wait for it to dry again! what do you do?
  • If I'm home, I'll run and grab it in but if I've got home and it's still raining and been out there a while, I'll leave it until it eases and then get it in. Would always do a mini 30 min wash in those circs though.
