I do not re-wash the clothes, I spin them again.0

In fact we should collect rainwater to rinse our hair really, it would be much better for our hair than using horribly chlorinated hard water (here in London at least)! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Would only re-wash if the local seagulls/pigeons had got to it before I did!0

She didnt see the irony :rotfl:It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

I don't bring mine in til it's dry - sometimes it can be out there for weeks! ( we're in the west of Scotland where if we get 2 dry days in a row we call it a heatwave)Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0

Good Heavens No If it rains, it rains and I certainly wouldn't waste time and energy rewashing it. If I can bring it in whilst it's still more dry than wet, I'll hang it up on my retractable bathroom washing lines. If it's more wet than dry, it jolly well stays there until the rain stops. . I can't imagine why anybody would rewash their laundry unless they lived in a heavy industrial area where rain brought smuts and other pollution falling down onto the washing. The only time I ever had to rewash my laundry was when a very inconsiderate neighbour started a bonfire with lots of newspapers a few minutes after I'd hung my sheets out. I marched round showing him some pillowcases smutted with black charred newspaper smearings and told him that next time he started a daytime bonfire without first checking his neighbours' gardens for laundry, I would bring my laundry round and he could wash it all again himself! To be fair, I don't think it had even occurred to him but he certainly never did it again!0

If I don't get to it on time, then I have always re-washed it in the washine machine (with tablets and fabric conditioner!), as I just presumed that you had to.... Won't be doing that again now though, lol!
Just another question to add, how long do you leave your washing in the machine before hanging it out? If I do a washing in the morning, and I haven't had a chance to hang it out by bedtime, I wash it again in the machine (again with tablets and fabric conditioner).... does everyone else do this or is this just another odd custom I have picked up from god knows where???!!
I have always re-washed my washing if it has been rained on, I thought that was what you did, my mother always did it, but then again my mother is obsessed with cleaning and washing (bless her), but as of today I am NOT going to rewash my washing if its rained on.
I also admit that if I haven't had time to hang the washing out and its been there for 6 hours or more then again I would have rewashed it, but surely a rinse with fabric softener would freshen it up, would it? I have never given any thought until reading this thread, I wonder why my electricity bill came in at £305 for the last quarter:eek:, and that doesn't include the gas!
I'm sat here thinking about washing etc. When i was up in Scotland a few weeks ago at my sister in laws house watching her children whilst she went to the supermarket, it started to rain so I bought in her washing, and when she got back I mentioned I bought in the washing as it was raining, she gave me a really funny look but I know why now...cause very few people give a stuff whether it gets rained on or not....Ive learnt something today, I need to chill out a wee bit, I do not want to turn into Anthea Turner:eek:0
