  • If I have left washing in the machine for longer than 18-24hrs ( I can be forgetful) I then rinse with f/c then dry it, but I do tend to put washing in before I go to bed and can forget about/not have time for it in the morning.
I am very guilty of re-washing but I put that down to strong ocd tendencies!!!!!

I've never heard of rewashing rained-on washing until this thread. I leave it out or, if drenched and I need it dryer sooner rather than later, give it a quick spin and stick it back on the line again.

(If you go out in summer clothes and get caught in the rain you don't get home and deliberately wash your hair and skin that's been rained on do you? Or maybe people do... ?)

It's fascinating that there's such different ways of doing things.

She says that rainwater is dirty. I haven't got a clue if she is right. Until my washing turns black with the rain, I won't be re-washing it.
Are you talking about acid rain? That depends on where you live. For example, if you live under the flight path, jumbo jet flys over you every 45 seconds :(
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Have you sold your soul to the devil?
  • I sniff the rained on stuff - if it smells okay I will just bring it in and put it away. Once in a while we get 'dirty' rain and the clothes smell funny then I will rewash.

Well, it used to be recommended that you rinsed your hair or washed your face with rain water to make yourself more bee-yoo-tiful, so I can't imagine why it would do your washing any harm.

When we had the volcanic ash crisis earlier in the year and I saw the layer of dust that was settling on our car out in the driveway I dried all my washing indoors. If left outside for any length of time it would certainly have meant me having to re-launder all my white sheets again and I certainly wasn't going to be bothered to go through all that performance.
