Do you wash your washing again if rained on?

I dash out to get it if I notice it's raining and if it looks like it will go off I leave it out. If it looks like a heavy downpour we bring it in. Some days we're in and out all day with it. If it gets rained on heavy I rewash because that's what my mum did/does and so like someone else said, it's what you think you do. Last week because I had brought it in and then it didn't stop raining it started to smell and I ended up washing and rewashing twice the same lot which finally I got dry on Saturday from first doing it on Monday. I've never left it out to get soaked and then dry, not sure what I'll do now. My husband and I work from home and I don't think I would convince him to leave it out. Having said that, I don't think our neighbours leave theirs out either and I definitely remember when I was little that when it rained my mum and the lady next door would call out to each other to let them know it was raining and when one of them was out the other would take their washing in. So you can see why it would never have occured to me to leave it. I rewashed it by the way because of the smell, not the rain. Don't have airers, use radiators in winter but this summer has been a nightmare as it has never stopped raining here and no way am I putting radiators on yet.Second purse £101/100

If the washing gets really wet - we re-wash. However, we are thinking of installing a DIY rainwater harvesting system to supply our washing machine.

I once left my washing out for approx a week  because it rained every day.
Honestly, when I hung some of my kids tops in the first instance, there was stains on them the washing machine hadn't taken out (kids bibs with allsorts down as well) - I kid you not after a week of being heavily rained on, the stains had vanished!!...hence rained on washing comes in when its finally dry nowadays!0 -
I've never yet rewashed if it's got wet, it gets left till it does dry. I think it smells fresher if anything.0

If its really rained on (like if i am at work and cant do anything about it) then it gets a rinse and spin in the machine but if I am able to get it in then I will do however saying that I will happily leave it out in a light shower. Personally I just think that its dirty if it gets rained on (going on the assumption that rain water collected in a bucket isnt clean so my clothes cant be if they get soaked) but I am aware that it may only be me who thinks this way
I have just hung some out on the line just now but it looks very much like it may rain :mad:Emma

My neighbour takes this to the extreme and leaves it out in snow, hail, ice all sorts :rotfl:Never seen her re-wash and rehang clothes and she always looks lovely and well presented (without stains) so I guess it must work! I guess its just whatever works for each personEmma

If its stuff I need dry and its soaked by the rain I'll spin it again then hang up inside - if not it stays out til its dry. The stuff on the line went out, got dry, got rained on, got dry then rained on again....and is coming in today wet or dry as ds needs clean pants lolPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

If I'm 'on time' I'll dash out and fetch it in. but usually I'll check weather forecasts on internet to see if rain is coming before I hang it out anyway. But I certainly don't re-wash. never crossed my mind! lol!
I don't rewash if the washing has been sitting in the machine a few hours either. Only once, I forgot about it and it was in there for a day and over night. Then I gave it just a rinse to get the musty smell off. But that's it.0 -
For a five minute shower, it can stay where it is. For an absolute drenching, I'd dash out to rescue it, spin it, and then put it back out again when the rain went off."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
