No sign of my annual review yet and I'm another one who is dreading it! My joint claim has now been closed as my husband and I seperated in March. I have a couple of questions if anyone could be good enough to answer them?
1, Am I right in thinking that the overpayment we have had can't be repaid through my new single persons claim?
2, Does anyone know when they issue the claim packs which ask for your income 05-06? They sent me a claim form which asks for my income in 04-05 and the woman on the phone told me to put my income for 05/06 on the 04/05 claim form. Has anyone else done this - I can see it being a disaster!
3, How long do they take to process a new claim - I am desperate for the money to pay my daughters childcare and don't want to give up my job to claim IS. (Also i need the money to pay back the overpayment they say we had!!!)
Thanx in advance

1: yes you are right here.
2: declaration forms are issued in stages (depending on award entitlement) high awards usually get theirs first, low award get theres last, it's a priority thing. I f you were part of 2 awards in any one year, you will get 2 declarations, current award will be first previous award 2nd. the "claim form" the one you first filled in for tax credits will usually ask you for the previous tax years income for 2 reasons. a: you have the details on a p60 so can confirm as known and accurate. b: so the computer has something to base your award on. when your award notice is issued it shows the income used and asks whether you think this years/thats years income is going to be any different, if so tell them asap or you may be getting paid incorrectly, either way at the end of the tax year you declare your earnings and they tell you how much they should have paid you.
3: usually 2-3 weeks as a guide. any delays may be compounded as the computer will try to backdate 3 months automatically when it see's children. if this means it "overlaps" with dates on the old claim it will spit your claim out of the automatic/computer process and someone will get your details and deal with it manually. this can take time. you may get through to an advisor on the helpline who has done processing work (such as me) and they can change the dates involved and ensure 1 claim ends on one date and the other starts from the very next day.fatblokexl:EasterBun:0 -
I got my renewal letter last week and called them last Thursday where they told me they could update my details by phone. Today, I've received a one off payment of £265 into my cheque account! Naturally, I called them to query it as I haven't received a new award notice. They tell me this is a one off payment based on my updated information and my payments will continue regularly every 4 weeks.
The only change in my circumstances in the last tax year is that I've had to start claiming IS since January 2006 - everything else has remained the same and they know that I'm claiming CA.
Reading all the other posts about people that have been overpaid has made me nervous about spending it now!0 -
Finally got my review letter this morning, have filled it straight in and sent it back, so hopefully will hear from them soon about how much i should be getting this year!!!!!0

CIS - I've never got WTC, only ever got CTC.
I'm paying about £ 10 a week for breakfast club at kids school, can I claim that back? Also, every time I get my forms, its says I've only got one child, is CTC only based on one??
I just want the form to come, so I know either way whats going on, because they're useless on the phone.
Make sure they're not counting your student nurse nhs bursary as income! (assuming you're on a bursary and not seconded).
Good luck with your training - it's hard work but worth it in the end!
March 07 - mortgage outstanding £42,364
Overpayments of £58.27 each month & additional funds from my Neopigmy! (Moneypig!!)
No credit cards outstanding :T
No store cards outstanding :T0 -
Got mine this morning - can't face it yet so it's gone on the 'in-tray/pile/mountain of paperwork that needs attention'. I ought to check whether I need my P60 which must be due soon for this or last years. I will use avoidance tactics for a while so much hassle and I've had so many problems in the past I wish I'd never heard of them.0

Lady_E wrote:Daft question time ...................can you claim for the breakfast club when filling in CTC ??? I work 16 hrs a week , DH is full time and we dont get any other benefits etc (well apart from child benefit for DS1 + DS2)
Hi Lady E - no such thing as a daft question on here!! I think you can claim for childcare as long as they have an OFSTED registered number which you quote on the form.
I got my form this week.DFW Nerd Club No.785 = Proud to be dealing with my debt!0
