I used this firm to sell and purchase another property only 3 of us in chain my buyers (first time buyers), Me and the people I purchased from (didn't buy another house) Everyone involved in chain hated them. both estate agents and the other solicitors and vendors involved could never get hold of them sat on hold for ages only to be cut off or put through to answer phone which they never called anyone back from. Nearly lost both my buyer and my new property due to Arc only because I took charge and phoned everyone in chain twice a day with updates and chasing things and sitting on hold for up to 2 hours a day to Arc as well as looking after a home, 3 small children and working full time ( I nearly had a nervous breakdown ) took 3 1/2 months for sale/purchase to complete and on exchange and completion days I found out from asking paperwork, money, and searches where missing.... due to Arc..... I had to drive dropping things off to get exchanged and then again on completion. They still have 9 months after completion £11,000 of my money sitting in my client account I been chasing and chasing and chasing to no avail and now it appears £1000 has disappeared from my client account and they don't know why... now they are not even returning my calls.... Robbing Criminals his firm needs shutting down ASAP everyone complain to relevant authorities :mad:0

Bellescott - Why are they retaining as much as £11000.00 in the first place? If they are unable to give any cogent reason as to why this is being retained, then you must contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority, as it does sound very suspect.0

We were actually recomended them by my brother in law. Although I have not been in a huge rush, we paid them some money on 6th December and the lady who in my opinion is very helpful and answered my emails very nicely and pronptly has been doing the work and been chasing the vendors solicitor.
I saw this thread and my heart sank as it was too late, but am glad I am still using them as they have been fine. Am dubious to the origin of the above recent posters however.
I agree with you, all these guys are not the same. They are there to help you, as they understand the legal processes and laws in a much better than an individual.
this is a nice discussion going on here, and got to know about many of the individual experiences. It would always be great to have a solicitor who is either used by your known ones or you got to know about the positive experience of that particular one from somewhere.0 -

Just a quick update: we are now on Santanders Panel. Thank You.0 -
Bought our property through Arc Property Solicitors in June last year - had a similar experience.
Arc have changed their name to Zedebra LLP.0 -
Have just completed using arc - cash purchase of empty property which took almost 2 months. A whole catalogue of mistakes were made by the firm, and then it was almost impossible to get them to change it - for example after 3 emails and 1 phone call, the wrong searches were ordered, and when the right ones eventually came back (after a 3 week delay) one of them was for the wrong property! Never received an apology.
Customer service team seems to exist to stop you reaching your actual solicitor - you reach them even ringing the "direct line" that you are given to your solicitor.
Next time i will pay a bit more and use a local firm who wont mess you around, and try to get you to pay 50% extra for the privilege of not being dumped at the bottom of the queue for anything you request.0 -
I have had dealings with ARC, as a third party. My short chain - should have taken 6 weeks, now been three months and counting.
!
How can a company run on 4 solicitors - nationally - employing paralegals who do the donkey work on little money and get things wrong.
!
There is a call centre answering calls and only 'shared' email addresses - my solicitor has no way of contacting the 'case handler' direct.
!
They claim to be on all these bank's panels - and with comments on here - I can not see how.
!
Would not recommend them.! We are likely to lose our dream house due to their incompetence!!
Please all of you on here log your complaints re them to the law society! Arc do not have lexcel and now I can see why!!0 -
Hi, this is belated I know, but I've just been reading what a kicking this firm have had and cannot see how it is possibly the same firm I used. I used Arc Property Solicitors for my sale and purchase and even over Christmas, we still completed in 9 weeks (remember there is a two week break over Christmas, so that makes it 7 weeks). There were problems with our purchasers, they had cash buyers and didn't want to pay for searches till they knew searches had been instructed on theirs (they never were and they were only applied for the searches on my house when they were given a week to complete) and our vendors didn't submit their sellers pack for 2 whole weeks, thus delaying my purchase. I had a lovely lady called Jennifer Turner, who was really fantastic, she responded to emails quickly, returned my calls and when I asked her what I could do to speed things up, she offered me good advice. We could have actually completed before Christmas, except our purchaser hadn't had his searches in and our vendor (despite not living in the place) refused to complete. I spoke to all estate agents and solicitors myself, which may be time consuming, but it meant I knew exactly what was happening and I completely believe that any problems was due to our purchaser (from speaking to him and also my estate agent) and from the estate agent of my vendor.
If I was to move again, I would use them, I would recommend them to anyone as they were far cheaper and were far better than other conveyancers I have used previously (Never use Countrywide Property Solicitors - 8 months to buy an empty house as a first time buyer!!!!). Feel free to contact me for any other information.0 -
I too am in the process with them and decided to read some reviews. Mine is a two chain house now going into the 6th month with a few hicups. I wont put things into detail at this stage but will let you know if things go all go through fine and turn into happy days, if not will let you know why.
Any update? How were Arc Property Solicitors?0
