    Erm, I did!
I ordered 48 items so had to do in 2 orders (25 in one and 23 in the other)so got free nominated delivery for both. I now have 10 items left per order so if they dare to charge me 2 lots of P+P there will be big trouble.
Still not showing as dispatched so no doubt will lose even more by then.
    Every year it's the same.
Not even had a courtesy no stock email either...

This happened to me two years ago - a hefty order was whittled down to 3 items before I cancelled it in despair BUTthey would only speak to DH because his name was on the order (it was via his Quidco account) ...
he had to leave a meeting to 'express his concern' about the carp system.

He was offered a 'small' credit to the M&S account - more foreceful words later & we had a nice voucher through the post but once bitten, twice shy. Now I shop instore or not at all.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Sorry if this has already been answered. But, does anyone know if stuff will be reduced further like it was last year?

Sooooo angry! I placed an order early on Thursday morning for 18 ‘in stock’ items + I selected Saturday (first available date showing) as the nominated delivery day. The system then notified me that Saturday was not available, so I chose today (Monday 27th) and made arrangements accordingly. Not long after, I received a confirmation of my order – but for only 17 items (still nearly £200-worth, so still free nominated delivery).

The next day (Friday) I was notified that another item was no longer available, but that still left 16 of the 18 ordered, so good going by previous experiences.

I got up at 6.30 this morning in case delivery was at 7 am, and (fortunately) decided to look thro’ yesterday’s e-mails …..

Another e-mail from M&S (sent on Sunday morning), telling me that: ‘I'm sorry to let you know that 1 or more of the items you wanted are no longer available.’

Understatement! Of the 16 items that had remained on my order, 15 were no longer available – I could only take delivery of a £12 handbag, which would be delivered some time between Tuesday & Friday (ie: 28 & 31 July).

How on earth does M&S get away with this? Surely if an organisation (sorry - inappropriate choice of word!) .. if a company consistently behaves in such a manner they should be brought to book: items are shown as being in stock – customers are choosing the next available delivery date – the day prior to delivery, the items become ‘no longer available’ – so where has the stock gone? Surely it should have been allocated to the customer when the order was placed (or very soon afterwards). And even if not, why does it take three days to notify the customer that their items are no longer available? By then it is too late to make a visit to the store, and that is assuming that this alternative course of action is viable - this must be all the more upsetting/frustrating for those who are housebound.

I know that I can vote with my feet (I’ve already cut up the M&S card that I recently applied for + have cancelled the one-&-only item that was left on my order), but I really do feel that the time wasting and inconvenience suffered by so many should be treated seriously and that M&S (and any other consistently-offending companies, although I have not yet encountered one that can come anywhere near to matching M&S’ shambolic performance) should be made to offer a reliable service.

OK – moan over :rolleyes2 (on here, anyway). Thanks for ‘listening’. Hope not too many others have the same level of experience, although I fear that they will :wall:.

From what I understand following a phone conversation with M&S the stock levels on the web site aren't live - a day or two out. Therefore, it's likely that the stock levels of many items on the web site are not up to date. However, I don't for 1 minute that this is the only factor.

Lets say the web site stock levels are 5 for an item but there are 4 in the warehouse because someone bought one yesterday. 5 people then try and buy the item. 1 will get an out of stock email. Using that example if you bought 20 items you could expect 4 to be out of stock. However, for you, to get 15 out of 16 items out of stock they'd have to have about 16 in stock according to the web site but only 1 in stock in the warehouse. I really don't think that M&S should have a web site where the stock levels are that inaccurate.

I was told on the phone that my comments would be passed on and that I'd just been unlucky. I told the girl not to bother because they were hardly going to implement a new system because 1 person was "unlucky".

If my order arrives with 16 out of 22 items as the site is stating now the order has been despatched rather than the 5 out of 22 that I was told on the phone then I am going to be rather annoyed. I've gone and spent the difference (about £90) now on clothes based on what I was told on the phone.

Okay, M&S say that they do not have "real time" stock levels.
IF this is the case, why do things sometimes get removed from your basket before you get to checkout because they are no longer available? Surely that is "real time"???
    It doesn't add up.

I ordered about 9 things at approx 12.15am on Thursday i.e. minutes after sale started. Order still sitting at dispatching soon with estimated delivery today or tomorrow. No email to say things not available so had been quite positive but now not so sure. Phoned at about 4pm and was told my order was now saying shipping soon and the system would update early evening for me to see that but now thinking that is the same as the dispatching soon that has been there since last Thursday. Not too happy (but not missing out as much as some, although still important to me.)

    Grrr!
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

The sale didn't start at midnight - I ordered and got my first confirmation e-mail at 21.46. I'd actually got sale items in my basket at 20.35, but hung on for other items to be reduced , so I'd only pay 1 lot of postage. They always start reducing early in the evening, as their system doesn't provide for them to push one button to activate all sale items. Maybe I've been lucky, but I placed 2 orders, for 5 items and 2 items, and all have been despatched and arrive tomorrow.
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.

Yes it does. Here is a scenario:

There is 1 of a specific item in the warehouse today but 2 of them yesterday. The web site uses a database that contains yesterday's warehouse stock levels. The sale starts with the website database containing 2 items in stock (when there is only 1 in the warehouse). You and 2 other people then put the same item in the basket. Person A purchases shortly followed by Person B causing the item to be removed from your basket because according the website database there is no more stock. Makes sense??

    -Person A receives their delivery

-Person B gets an Out of stock email because there was actually only 1 available

-You don't get anything because the item was removed from your basket as the others ordered before you did.

I ordered everything on Wednesday evening between 9:30 PM and 11PM and everything was delivered ...

You need to get your order in very early, the day of the instore sale is too late ...

Next time, make your order before 11PM on the Wednesday night and you'll have more luck (just be sure the red sale prices are showing in your basket for all items) ...
