The only reason any airline may try and prevent you from drinking your own booze is so they can sell you their over priced drink.

Does anyone believe that if you were paying for the drink they would tell you that you have had too many?

As far as confiscating it thats tosh, they have no right to confiscate your property you may find thats theft.

Not if they give it back after and they have it in their terms of carriage.

C'mon, think MSE - nothing to stop you taking an empty 500ml bottle through security...
Its the size of container security are interested in not how much fluid is in it. Any bottle (emtpy or not) or 100ml will be confiscated. Also Ryanair's T&C ban you from drinking your own alcohol on board, you are also not allowed to bring hot drinks on board.

I have never heard of this being a law, though it may be the airline's condition of carriage, do you have a link please - I am genuinely interested and not nit picking :think:

    Utter poop!!!!!!

No it is not poop. All airlines I have flown with do not allow people to drink their own alcoholic beverages. On a Ryanair flight I was told not to drink my own beer (this was before the silly liquid ban) from home. i could drink anything I borught with me EXCEPT alcoholic drinks.
This goes for other airlines I have flown with (SAS, Spanair, BA, etc..)

I agree with this. In the last few months we've flown with Monarch and Thomas Cook, both announced that you are only allowed to consume alcoholic drinks purchased on board.

I'm not sure how they enforce this though.
How would they deal with someone they caught drinking their own booze?

    Hi folks.
I will be flying this evening.
    Here's the MSE plan.
    1) Take 100ml of sugar free squash for my DS, buy a couple of bottles of water once through and mix him some squash on the plane.
    2) Take 2x 100ml of bacardi or own brand equivalant through security, buy a couple of cokes from Boots for DH and myself again to mix on the plane.

If security wish to stop us taking any of this through I'll let you know!

We're not alcoholics just fancy a nice holiday drink on the plane without paying the extreme prices they charge so will not be too gutted if it's a no go.

It is poop, it is a term and condition of carriage not a law, which is what you said, there is a difference. Stop making things up.

I did not say it was a law, i just posted the link from Ryanair :D
And it is part of the terms and conditions as you say...
On the other hand in practice there is not much difference when it comes to what is allowed on board and not...
The airlines decides what is allowed and what is not regardless of laws. Some charter airlines in Sweden does not allow you to bring your own food, not even sandwiches...

The quote from me you used to reply to asked specifically for a law not a condition of service. So you posted the wrong answer as a reply.

The second you walk on a plane in the uk the CAA own you. And even before then.

Drinking your own drink until requested not to do so won't wind them up, but if you are "disruptive", or feel the word "poop" is acceptable as a term of conversation, you can be met by police on landing, or if you really upset them, as I feel you might, you can be diverted to the nearest airport and again met by police. You can be banned fron flying, as the CAA decide, and you can be prosecuted, as the law decides.

    quote from
    http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1770&pagetype=90&pageid=9858

"Airlines have a right to refuse to carry you if they consider you a potential risk to the safety of the aircraft, its crew or its passengers. Reasons will typically include:

If you have deliberately interfered with a member of the crew of the aircraft carrying out their duties.

If you have not obeyed the instructions of ground staff or a member of the crew of the aircraft relating to safety or security.

If you have behaved in a threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly way towards a member of ground staff or a member of the crew of the aircraft. "

If you don't like it, don't go in an airport.
