Interesting that you quote the 'say no to 0870' url as your sig. You will note that I have a similar one, but was requested by MSE not to have the url direct link.

    Mine wasn't and isn't a quote, tho I do like it!

:rotfl: I have been trawling through all morning looking for travel insurance for myself and my husband. My husband is insulin dependant diabetic, takes 1 tablet per day for high blood pressure, and 1 for cholestrol. He also had triple bypass 12 years ago, but is on no medication at all for that. He is 65 and I am 62.
So many companies turned him down or loaded him for the bypass, but Floyds Direct on 0800 1613122 was the best, they charges £167.22 for an annual insurance worldwide including USA for the both of us (I took the Personal Possesions off as I get that on our household policy, that saved 10%). You obviously have to go through a screening process which all of them seem to send you to, but this screening one said they would insure him with no extra premium at all. They only intersted in the past 5 years.
It also has a freephone number which is an added bonus. So anybody having problems try them, they also have a website, www.floydsdirect.co.uk but I decided I wanted to talk to somebody direct.

Chris - thank you so much for this advice. We (Mr 62 Mrs 69 both with conditions) were with Tesco wanting £216 at renewal. Floyd's Direct have charged £118 and no more restrictive. Their website is the best I have ever seen and takes you through each condition. I have also thanked them.

Quite correct - I should have said - Interesting that you show 'say no to 0870' ! I always promote the use of this site as I am dead against 0870 and chargeable numbers, especially if you are the customer!:T

Was That me speaking or just my echo!!:j

At last I come across someone else with the same frame of mind, Why should we put up with all these rip-offs, we pay for the service, then why the h*ll should we pay, to get THEM to PUT the Shoddy Service RIGHT.

The same can or should be said about the many rip-offs with this Travel insurance, he's got a problem; let’s LOAD him/her up, but we won't pay-out should they need it.
I'm speaking from experience there, 14 &1/2 grand for 4 days in hospital in USA, with a well known insurance company, known the world over, (it begins with A ends in Express) this was with a declared pre existing condition also charged the extra for it. They A Ex just wouldn't pay out as it was pre existing condition.
We have since found out medically, Mother Never did or has ever had the condition COPD, treated for in hospital or diagnosed to have had for that pre existing condition. That say's a lot about some or at least one doctor in this case.
Now I'm no doctor but I was right in this case, it was simply an altitude attach, if I say in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, you may understand, try 16'000ft above sea level, mother was trying to keep up with the locals and her being in her 80's.
Since starting this reply I've had a few interruptions, somuch so I now have to make some 0870 calls [Look-Up www.Saynoto0870.com] to get the bills sorted out once more!
Just what is going on in this crappy world anymore?

I am looking for good value travel insurance for a 84 year old travelling to Egypt with Medical conditions, quite a challenge! I am going to start looking through these links

    http://www.travelinsurancefinder.co.uk/travel-insurance-over-80.htm

If anyone has tried any of these or found anything better for this category please let me know

£141 for three weeks (from Insure for all)
  • Can any one suggest travel insurance that covers an emergency return flight to the UK from e.g. Australia due to illness of aged parent (84 years old) with existing known medical conditions?
  • As far as I understand it they're all suppose to cover a repatreation, especaily if your on a worldwide cover.
Lets face it, some insurances are NOT worth the paper they're written on.
More of us should be kicking off about it, like banks & they're charges.

Swinton insurance quoted my 83 year old Mother £73 for a 2 week trip to Egypt, even though she will be 84 during the holiday (suspect it is an annual policy). Swinton also have records of her medical conditions so this seems an incredible deal!

The post office also quoted £96. These are far lower than the quotes I got from the link I gave above, so much for the Internet!
  • Directtravel insurance have just given me a quote of £43 for a fortnights cover to go to Turkey with an excess of £35. (Annual policy)

We're both in our late 40's, I'm OK but my OH has hypertension and asthma as well as one or two lesser conditions.

I think this is an excellent quote, so thought I should share it with you good people!
