I would like to endorse every word you wrote on here moonrakerz !!
For three days now I have been contacting all and sundrie recommeneded and not on the computer. I am 68, my husband 71, he suffers with acid reflux which most agents tell me is not declarable, but I did, so there would be no hassell about it later. I myself had a heart attack in 2001, and two valve replacements in 2005, I take an asprn and another tablet for the heart, I CAN walk more than 200 yards without becoming breathless, infact, I hill walk often and do arobics twice a week !!
Medicare quoted me £1356 for a single trip of 17 days to the USA
Medicover quoted £891.37
Virgin ...£829
many others wouldnt quote me at all.
I read you comments and called Saga.
They have quoted me better cover than any of the others for £336.95 with a £15 discount for allowing them to give me a further quote for Spain later in the year.for £125.62...SO £327 for the USA and Im well pleased, thank you very much, I would never have dreamed of trying Saga !! Cheers..0 -
There is another thread with a very similar subject matter but, it became confused whether it was for older travellers or pre-existing medical conditions. So I have started this thread so that it is completely clear who it refers to. The people who have most difficulty in obtaining travel insurance for a reasonable fee are those over 65, who have an existing or previous medical condition. My friend who had a heart attack over 3 years ago has had real problems in obtaining a reasonable quote. North America and the Caribbean are the worst area as the premiums shoot up. He and his wife were hoping to go on a 17 day holiday for their Golden WA, to New England, which incorporated a cruise. The lowest quote for ins. so far is £800 !
Call SAGA as I did !!!:)0 -

Has anyone used www.acetravelinsurance.co.uk ?
For pre-existing conditions, there do not appear to be any restrictions except if you or relative waiting to go into hospital etc.
It almost seems too good to be true!
Also covers for terrorism.
As always, read smallprint to be sure.

Unfortunately Birdy if you're taking medication for any heart related condition, including hypertension (age 45-54 bracket) you won't be covered.:wave:0

Hi nonesperfect,
Can't find the part you refer to - can you give more info, as this is obviously quite important.
If you click the heading 'holidays' for age 18-64, I looked at the policy details, but I can only see the bit about someone going into hospital etc, and not going for medical treatment or against G.P. advice.
TIA
