  • Hi Turfy

You are doing well cutting back on the phone and sports channels. It all adds up in the end. Sorry to hear that life is tough work-wise. So many people in the same boat. A lot of young people going to Australia. Haven't seen such an exodus since the 80's. Really quite sad isn't it. Hopefully your hubby won't need to move to find work. Quite a few still staying in Dublin during the week and travelling home at the weekends, must be some work there.

All reasonable here, running around after young ones as usual. Have to keep going don't we. Weather certainly getting chillier at night now Turfy. Hows Ned :)

Update for my mse friends. Car still going and shocks not arrived yet. DH has more work which is good, weve done two jobs this week and more to do over the weekend. All good but the home made roof rack which is a must for the business has been more of a pain really, just hope it can get us through until we can look into getting a van perhaps in the new year. Were thinking of pushing the business hard for 12 months and see how things are then, its all trial and error and I suppose taking a chance, so watch this space, with my DH this is all subject to change :rotfl:
Not really noticing much difference not paying the loan as most of the extra has gone on car parts and labour etc etc etc. :(:(
Hope the new year brings an easier time finance wise, although with the budget due next week I dont think so somehow :(

More work sounds good, turfy - sorry the car is eating up the old loan payments tho :(

We had something of a budget on Tuesday over here - I kind of ignored it, tbh, as I know everything financial is bad news right now - hope yours is a bit better.

Havent been on much lately sorry folks. Firstly the trapped nerve in my back to almost two weeks to feel any better. All good now though and even managed to get some painting done which has been desperately needed for a long time. DH is working in the city at the mo for a friend so that will all be needed for xmas and to finally pay off his business cc that should finish in feb, so will give him some much needed breathing space.

Kids have had a second day this week at home due to mad amounts of snow and buses not being able to reach us, crazy really as DH managed to get down this morning, but I suppose its an insurance risk etc. The little car is going ok and is just my up and down to the bus at the mo. Shopping almost done almost all of it online this year which is great, a few bits to pick up on Tues when DH has his yearly service with the doc and a new medical to get us some much needed cheaper life insurance, I dont expect any of that to be sorted before 2012 though. So cold here at the mo and only the stove for heat, we never got chance to change our boiler pipes with all the business with the car, so were just "in layers" until such time we can get the boiler working. We all have heavy quilts and elec blankets though so were cosy at night. Hope all my mse pals are keeping warm and organised for Santy.:xmassign:

Just a light dusting of snow today and already its going slushy. Ned is loving his hay and certainly making the most of it! Ducks not happy as pond keeps freezing over, and the two new ducks we were landed with as chicks have turned out to be drakes, so they are off to new homes for christmas (probably the table), I have to do it now otherwise we'll have fighting birds on our hands.
We also lost the cockerell in the week, I was mucking out the hens and the dog chased him, but the stupid bird ran straight into the wheelbarrow and managed to break his neck! I couldn't believe it how mad, he was about 6 yrs old and really a bit timid but noisy so we wont miss him too much really but he was lovely to look at.
So all other animals are ok.
DD has gone xmas shopping with her pal today and is working this afternoon at 2. DH is helping his pal to do something with his shed (god knows what), and I have to go to town to the opticians and lidl, so will brave the shops and the cold. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Well had a nice quiet xmas here despite the miserable weather. Of course weve all eaten too much etc etc. All were delighted with their pressies and were all being generally lazy. Had to go to the bank yesterday and all ok and should be ok now as bank holidays fall when payments are due so all will be back to normal by the end of next week. Did the tight test and got 51% not bad really. Could do better, and have managed to save on the life insurance and have that sorted now so that should save a few euro in January. Have had a new phone for xmas and thats going ok too, Im always wary of managing these new devices but this one seem ok. Will not be DF by 50 and Im contemplating starting a new diary next week to focus a bit more with the one debt we have apart from the mortgage, otherwise life is good and everyone is well, Happy New Year to all my DFW friends, have a good one and dont get too much of a hangover.
