That sounds lovely today - and, yes, you've got to keep on going with a house - it only sank in for me recently - they don't really achieve a state where there's *nothing* for years and years!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hello Turfy
How are you. How are you getting on with your porch and what plans do you have for the spring. I need to get out to the garden and cut back some of my shrubs etc. Treated myself to a new pair of secateurs (spelling?) with vouchers from shop and scan. So am awaiting them patiently.
take care

Hi E yes I cant wait for it to be dry enough to work in the garden, its been so wet this year. Rain again today just gets you down. I want to start off some seeds for the polytunnel soon and get that organised. Have my big birthday coming up (for which I may as well add that I WONT be DF) so hoping to spend a weekend up in dublin with DH which will be nice as the kids are old enough to manage now for a couple of nights (eldest being almost 19).
Moneywise ok but have a couple of things to pay, my trip to blighty a few weeks back for one and the guttering that still hasnt arrived.
Off to do some outdoor jobs, need the wellies again todayVisa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Loan 1 €[STRIKE]4885[/STRIKE] now 0. Loan 2 €29,590 now €0 as of 22/02/2016 Mgage €55000/ €23,639 at 01/02/18

Feeling really low today. Drive shaft has snapped on the car and looks like a very expensive job!!!!!!!!!!!! My weekend away will now not happen. Spent most of the day at the puter looking at parts spares etc, can get cheaper in the uk but they will not ship parts as its not a uk plate etc etc etc!. Trying to do the breakers yards next as a last ditch hope. Our guy who does the car is very reasonable and has been a godsend but even he cant help this time we need the right parts and I was quoted 530 euro for one part and 291 for the other, I dont think so matey (main dealer prices) aggghhhhh:eek: Trying to be upbeat but again its raining the track is so bad and dont have much petrol to get up and down, oh and we need to do a big shop!!! Hey ho think I need a cry today.Visa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Loan 1 €[STRIKE]4885[/STRIKE] now 0. Loan 2 €29,590 now €0 as of 22/02/2016 Mgage €55000/ €23,639 at 01/02/18

HI Turfy
Sorry that things not going well for you, have you tried any of the northern yards. Go on to BT phone book and check them out. Lots of people pop over the border to get parts etc. I know that's not possible for you because you are away down south but they definitely would citylink or courier to you. Vans all over Ireland everyday.
Rain makes us all flippin miserable and they say January is the depressing month !!! That must be tough when your road is so bad. We live rural too but we have good solid lane. Try and not worry too much. Make do with what you have for a day or so and take it easy. Life can be sh01*e sometimes. Remain positive..look how far you have progressed and all will work out well for you. How's Ned"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"C. S. Lewis

Update re the car. On driveshaft purchased from a breakers in Cork thought we'd cracked it €100 great. WRONG it was for an automatic so not right. Got our money back and have now sourced another one from Monaghan should be here later today, (big thanks to EbayQueen) Hopefully this will be the right one. So have been managing with people offering to pick up shopping etc etc and getting cabin fever to boot!! DS1 and DD are on mid term all week, but poor old DS2 (who is at a party at the mo) is going back to school tomorrow, so not too bad re the running about with small car (which is not road legal|) Anyway hopefully things should improve everything is currently crossed in hope.Visa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Thats brilliant Turfy.
:):)
Monaghan is a nice big town. Not that far away from me either:) Not easy doing without a car especially when we live so rural. Hopefully things will settle down soon for you and hopefully the sun will start to shine one of these days too!!!!
