Hopefully some of us more relaxed one will rub off on you, I'm one of the non-worriers (with the odd blip) I just let my boys get on with it in most things (they don't do that much being only teeny)

I overly worry :o Whilst I am fun with them, I am very protective, so maybe them being protective of me is partially my fault in some way

There is now way I allow them on facebook and the like. Is that too strict? A couple have mentioned facebook and another one once or twice, but nothing has happened when i've said 'no' other than the usual 'oh that's not fair' :o

Will pick up any reply tomorrow :T

Welcome MotM - I think you are doing an amazing job.

You're all going to think I'm very odd - not only am I bf a 28 month old she's sleeps in her cotbed in our room too!

Had a lovely day, chilled out with her this morning. Then this afternoon, a quick trip to the pet shop for a new bed for the dog for the kennel next week (1/2 price sale!), we then took her to the park, she loves the slide.

Only downside is that she fell asleep in the car on the way home so slept between 5.30 and 6.15 so wasn't tired until nearly 11pm  Only went then as DH was going as he's up at 4 for work.

    MDW

 Thanks. Nice to meet you :D

Its only natural that if you are a worrier/protective then they may have that trait too.
I'm going to tell you off now though... stop saying things are your fault! its so negative - try to think positive :D

I personally think no facebook is a bit strict but I'm sure some others would agree with you on it :)
I'm confident that by the time my boys are old enough, I'll have taught them well enough that they won't be naive enough to fall for anything dodgy on the internet but also I think I'll probably set up the account and make sure I know the [assword so I can keep an eye on them! :o

the type of person I am though if at 16 my mum/dad said I wasn't allowed facebook I'd have just gone and done it anyway - I never have been one to follow orders though:cool:

motm i agree with sami i think facebook is abit strict but thats up to you ... if you've installed right from wrong and the fact they can come to you about anything then they'll be ok ... you've done a good job raising them time to have a little faith in the work you did x
    :)Still searching .....:)
  • Morning all - nice and early here today, letting daddy have a lie in!

Thanks for all your help on the bath chair - think we'll buy some sort of support, like the look of the swivelly one. May take her in with us occasionally but I love really hot baths and OH doesn't take baths (but he does shower so doesn't stink!)

Man on the Moon I am in awe - hope you stick around, I'm sure you could give great advice.

Busy weekend here, had baby first aid course on fri, BBQ yesterday for 10 adults and 5 kids, and going swimming today, planting my winter veg then off to SIL for another BBQ. Loved having all the bigger kids round yesterday, can't wait until my DD is interacting with them, rather than just staring, but will need to seriously child proof the house.

Can't remember what else I wanted to say, I read all the posts but find it difficult to post every day.

Oh remember now - Time travellers wife - I love this book, read it on honeymoon, blubbed so much gave it to hubby to read who also enjoyed it, which is a bonus for me as he normally loves hardcore sci fi. Think the film looks a bit cheesey though?

    Have great sundays all.
  • I know what else I wanted to say...

Babies in room - mine is still in there at 5 1/2 months - I just love having her there, and luckily she's always been a good sleeper. Last few weeks though she's been waking earlier (anytime from 5) and not exactly hungry but wanting to play, possibly a weaning sign? She's in a crib at the moment and as soon as she outgrows that she has to go to her own room because we've got no room for her cot in our room. At least that makes the decision for us, but when the time comes though (probably soon) I know I'll be upset.

I have woken up with a cracking headache this morning but will Alexandra go back to sleep? Will she b*ggery! :(
Have taken a couple of paracetamol - in the wain hope they will help - and just sat trying to stay alive looking at the laptop... :( I hate headaches!
MotM - I think she can volunteer at 16 - it really depends on what charity and what exactly is concerned - she probably won't be able to do "front line" stuff where she'd actually be in contact with people - anything that could basically put her at risk would be out of the question.
That said - but has she thought about St Johns? (No I'm not kidding...) they don't only do local fairs etc but also have a nursing course which could give her some good experience with people in a vulnarable position etc or even if she wants to do some duties as a first aider she would always be under the supervision of another older and experienced first aider - it would just give her some face to face experience of people in different situations that might come in handy later down the line if she wants to do social work.
I wanted to be a social worker many years ago when I finished my A-level equivalents - eventually I decided it wasn't actually what I hoped it would be and accidently ended up in IT :rotfl:

As for social skills - I think it's tough for all single parents at times to be honest... keep coming on here and chatting. You'll be amazed at the level of support and help you can find amongst a bunch of chatty ladies and gent on here when you're having an off day :)

Sorry to post and not reply to whats been going on. Sorry for the random post, hope it makes sense!

A few bits - Toby is a hot baby, no hats here, and rarely more than a vest. Toby too big for a bath seat, they seem to be for maximium size of small 6 month old. You all need to go to bed earlier. Cluster feeding is hard but it gets easier. I want to see dinosaurs. Windows and sofas are great! Welcome to newbies. Where are pregnancy thread graduates, are we due some? Not seen Skinty for a while. Yay for emergency EBM. Time Travellers Wife - I want to see this. Could be good, or could be awful! Facebook on the agreement that you know the password and can look whenever you like might be a good compromise? Also if you can tweak the security settings and approve friends? Ed looks great in his wrap!

Anyone know of any quiet beaches near Hayling Island, Portsmouth? Within 20 miles or so.
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.
