Oh, the page thing at the bottom has changed...
Anyway, just remembered, there was mention last night about codine for csection pain - I was on that, prescribed by the consultant, then told to stop taking it by the midwife because you can't take it whilst breastfeeding!0 -

I'm getting nervous! Going to leave at about 1:15pm, so should probably get baby changed and dressed. He hasn't fed that much this morning, hope he doesn't demand it when I'm out - my nursing bra hasn't arrived yet!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

The question is starting to bug me...I don't want to stop and the thought of saying no to my little boy makes me want to cry....but I don't want to be feeding a walking, talking toddler either. I'm just not progressive enough for that
I stopped at 23wks. My mum stopped at 9 months with me and I stopped rather than her - then she stopped at 1 year with my sister - but she stopped rather than my sister. She can't remember with my other sister! And a huge pile of baby stuff to pass on!
Anyone who's still about......how do you go about finishing b/f ing?
I'm not trying too, but since weaning, and my night out on Thursday we're a bit messed up.
When I went out, i'd fed her all day as usual, til I dropped her at mums at 5pm. I didn't get her back til 1pm the next day, and didn't express or leak and although I expected my boobs to be huge, hard and painful, they weren't! They were full, but comfortably so.
Sunday I fed as usual first thing, then she had food breakfast at 9am. Then at about 11.30, when she normally has a milk feed, she had a proper fight with the boobie. We struggled for about half an hour of her screaming/sucking/fighting and so on! I gave upand gave her a bottle of formula, 7oz, which she guzzled.
By late afternoon feed time, she was happy with the boobie again.
But at bedtime feed time, she hated the boobie.
We've had pretty much the same pattern today. I've not fed her myself since about 2pm, and i'm not feeling full/hard.
Is this the b/f coming to a natural end?
(I know i've done this twice before, but i can't remember!)
I stopped at 23wks and pumped twice when the pressure built up and was too much to bear, but back to 'normal' non-milk boobies after 3 weeks. However, I was only ever feeding 2 feeds so not sure how that effected it. It was easier than I was expecting......I miss itr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

Morning
I can't remember how long I fed Joshua. I think it just tailed off as he started eating more food - around 9 months to a year-ish.
I had to stop feeding James around 3 months, partly because he was extremely hungry and I wasn't producing enough milk to fill him so he was on half formula and half breast, then I got a nasty chest infection. I noticed the milk wasn't creamy any more at any part of the feed - it just looked like cloudy water and it didn't fill him as no matter how long he sucked, he still wanted more! I decided it was better just to put him on formula. It must have been the right thing to do as I never got the full boob feeling when I stopped.
Charlotte was the same as Joshua and just started dropping the breast milk when she was eating three meals a day. We were going on holiday when she was a year old, and I wanted normal boobies in my bikini rather than leaky milky ones
Charlotte just got up and came into bed with me for a cuddle, then the next thing I knew the other two had followed. It was a bit of a squash with 4 in the bed
My milk always looked like dirty dishwater - in fact, it was that watery sometimes it looked just like water without having been used to wash anything in:eek:
We gave Caitlyn a bottle of formula last night before bed last night. DH thinks it means she will cry less. Actually she is good at night, we had a bad day with her being unsettled most of the day yesterday. Anyway I'd BF her then DH gave her the bottle. I said she'd probably not take much, but she actually had 3oz so that pleased him  Then she fell asleep and he said 'what do we say to mummy? I told you so' The look I gave him could have struck him down there and then, so he said 'we want you to have both'. I've told him that I am NOT stopping BF and I am ok with ONE bottle of formula. Then she woke up so I just smiled. oh, and get this, he said 'well she doesn't get 4oz off you does she?' I said 'she gets enough, you don't know how much she's getting.' He said 'well you didn't express much the other day' so I informed him that babies are a better pump than a plastic one. When I read this back it makes him sound like a right to$$er!
Caitlyn is now fast asleep after having boobie at night and this morning. Going to take her to be weighed tomorrow so I'm sure I'll be proved right!
sorry to hear that your OH isn't being that supportive. I mixed fed baby and we have to remember that formula isn't bad for babies who are fit and well - however we all have choices and you have to do what's right for your LO, you and your family as a whole. Have you spoken to your HV about things? Perhaps she would apeak to you and your OH together about feeding LO? have you a BF clinic to go along to where you could take OH alongladybirdintheuk wrote: »Oh dear, we are having a hard-work day today. After being with my parents for the weekend, Izzy has been entertained every second, and now she doesn't like it if I put her down and try to do anything. She has been helping me on Farmville instad, which isn't particularly productive, but never mind. I have now sat her by the washing mashine with some bread to [strike]eat[/strike] play with, and that has bought me a second!
Re the zoo - have you looked at how much the annual membership is? For our local zoo if we get annual membership it is about the same as 2.5 trips I think, and that way we can go every weekend if we so desire, so we always have something fun to do if we are broke. Even if you can't afford it now it might be worth saving up for if you live close enough for it to be worth it? Or maybe ask for money towards it from grandparents for Christmas?
we bought zoo membership 2 weeks ago - you have to go three times to make the money back - not hard and the parking along costs a fortune and is free with membership which is great. We also get discounted admission prices for non-members coming with usr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
phew -finally caught up and commented on things
had some lunch as LO is fast asleep - thank goodness. She was up lots last night and ended up sleeping with usNot sure what's up with her. it doesn't appear to be her teeth, and she's not unwell. Babies - they defy all logic!
still on the holiday search - at this rate I'll need a holiday just as a break from the holiday searching!
Off out for a long walk with a friend and her twins this afternoonI'm looking forward to catching up with her. The twins are about 6wks older than Annabel so get to see what stage is coming up next!
I had questions but I've forgotten them .....r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
hi ladies! i had charlie at the doctor this morning and he is being refered to the hospital, there was a note from the doctor when he was admitted last year when he had an asthma attack stating that he was extremly energetic and that it may be something to look into? this was news to me??
Also the new HV came out as the doctor told her i needed extra support and to see someone asap. She is really lovely and listened to everything i had to say. she is going to come out weekly and is away to help set up stratigies to help control charlie. She explained that with autism/adhd/behaviour disorders that it is very important that we keep his blood sugar levels up and not to let them dip as this can be when they lash out and become wild. feel a lot better that they are listening and actually willing to help me!
am going off to google kids names now lol! What's for you won't go past you0
