Quick question. Was thinking of going to the clinic and for a coffee with my friend. I think I can manage going out today. She text me to let me know that one of her babes has a bad cough. Should I avoid going?

I think you should go :) Toby will be packed to the rafters of your antibodies from breastfeeding, so even if you get the cough and/or he does, he shouldn't get it too bad. LOs get these things all the time so he's gonna get one sometime, and if you're feeling up to going out, I'd seize the moment and go for it :D Going out may give you a boost much more than a lil cough will affect you on the off chance you get it.. (does that make sense?)

Feelie - I'd go if I were you. Wherever you go you never know who's got what anyway. I like what elle said - seize the moment!

:rotfl: I was googling our baby names to see if anyone's baby has a famous namesake and came across a site about the bee gees that linked to the pregnancy club birth list that had elle gee and sami bee on it :rotfl:

A cough would be okay I'd think FG, unless your baby has a low immune system or gets really unwell with coughs/colds.

I was never one for germ free baby, her dummys got sterilised up until a point, and then I just stopped bothering :o The reason there is so many illnesses I think is because we are OTT on the cleaning! Nowt wrong with a jump in a puddle and a swim in the mud.

I remember midwives preaching to me about all the things Keira would get because I didn't BF (It's a good job I didn't as I had staph + more) Oh she'll be more likely to get exzema, asthma, get sick etc etc. I've never known someone as healthy as her ever! She never EVER puked as a baby, not once! Rarely got colds, I think she's had about 3 her whole life, she isn't fat, asthmatic or has exzema. Suprising really as OH has eczema. She is a big fat moan though.....:D

By the by, I was meaning to ask, I noticed some people who BF, babies get thrush. Is it only females (babys)who get the thrush? Also why do they get it? Just curious, as I didn't even know you could get it in your mouth :o

I've had thrush twice in my life (from antibiotics) and Jesus christ it's TERRIBLE! Makes you wanna claw your bits out, and how expensive is that cream.....

Keira has her 3yr 4month needles today. My mum asked her yesterday, "Oh are you getting your needles tomorrow" "Yeeees, I have to get two needles in my armpits and Keira will CRRRRRRRY" Couldn't stop laughing.

She's being a right misery today, Ellie stayed over last night, and they are like cat & mouse this morning. You're moody, blah blah, you're ugly blah blah.

At least they are consistent with the insults!

    Morning all, btw :)

Tia, lovely name! Have they given you any idea how long Amber will have to stay in for? Boohiss at painful boobs and  at the thought of a metal pump!!

Sugar, I've got a nightime gremlin too! Rhys likes to crawl up me, digging his feet into the waistband of my jeans and thus my scar too - ouch!!

Rhys was up at two and four this morning. I didn't hear him at four and he's only two metres away from me so I'm only relying on OH's say so  He's been asleep on my chest for the last two hours, sound asleep no worries  Roll on getting our bedroom back and he can sleep in the dark.

Can't believe he's been home four weeks today! :j

Three month jabs this afternoon :( Dr's is near my mum's so we're going there for lunch and sorting out more of the baby bits I have stashed there too. Must find the motivation to get up off the sofa... :o

nope anyone get get thrush and you can get it anywhere on your body, its just a fungal infection like athletes foot. it 'likes' anywhere warm and moist. its common for babies to get it in their chubby fat folds too.
I got it in my mouth while pregnant and its almost as bad as having it down thee :(

OOh, Sami and Elle are sort of famous! :D

Feelie i'd go! I'm a great believer in letting them be exposed to some germs, it'll make him stronger! I have a friend who was forever cleaning her babys face/hands when he got dirty, and avoided any situation where germs might be involved........he turned into the snottyest, sicklyest toddler i'd ever known!

and only 4 TV channels, and record players !!

ETA - and penny chews that cost a penny :)

I remember the first ever programme on Channel 4 very clearly :) (it was Countdown). And the half-penny, and ha'penny chews, yep ;p this thread is bad for making me feel old regularly....!

Definitely! Go! :) If you feel up to it, go, if you're a little anxious just avoid rubbing the babies' faces together or the like :p

In the night if he wakes Elijah is usually frantic and trying to climb me while I try to cuddle him so lots of scrabbling feet and tugging at my hair. In the daytime, one of his favourite things is for me to blow raspberries on his tummy, to which is response is to grab my hair with both hands and dig his feet into my cheeks  with as much force as he is capable of! Which is surprisingly much
