Oh dear, we are having a hard-work day today. After being with my parents for the weekend, Izzy has been entertained every second, and now she doesn't like it if I put her down and try to do anything. She has been helping me on Farmville instad, which isn't particularly productive, but never mind. I have now sat her by the washing mashine with some bread to [strike]eat[/strike] play with, and that has bought me a second!
Re the zoo - have you looked at how much the annual membership is? For our local zoo if we get annual membership it is about the same as 2.5 trips I think, and that way we can go every weekend if we so desire, so we always have something fun to do if we are broke. Even if you can't afford it now it might be worth saving up for if you live close enough for it to be worth it? Or maybe ask for money towards it from grandparents for Christmas?Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

oh I meant to say babies climbing on you may actually just be looking for a boobie to suck on, its an innate skill just like how baby animals are born blind but manage to scrabble around to find a teat0

She was just messing with them last night - latching on, pulling off to make a comedy suction noise, and then looking at my agonised yowl-face as though it was the most fascinating thing ever, and why wasn't I impressed by her new skill?

I've text her back and I'm going to try really hard to go. I really should get DS weighed, its been 8 weeks! Fingers crossed I'll manage to get there. What are clinics like? Is everyone in one room? Will there be people near me when I undress him? Are they very busy? What do I need to take?
Tia - beautiful name! Sorry to hear about the pump, I didn't know they did metal ones! Scary! Hope mastitis gets better soon. Thanks for the poo update!
Sugar - she is adorable! I don't have a c-section scar, but I grabbed my belly when you said about little feet, that sounded super ouch!
Ladybird - Toby is like that after visiting. My parents give him constant fuss, all day, and he wants me to do the same! It is hard to farm with a baby isn't it?!
Elle - Four weeks has gone quick! Good luck for jabs, hope it goes well. Tobes has his 16 week ones next week, not looking forward to it. You mentioned about when to 'Hang up the horns' - I just set myself little goals - I think my main one was to get him to his 16 week jabs. That felt manageable and a good thing to aim for. I don't know how long I could have carried on expressing, some ladies do go for 1-2 years, but it is hard work. I'm sure any doctor who has pumped exclusively themselves wouldn't make you feel bad! It is hard to appreciate just how time consuming and difficult it is.
Searching - glad you had a nice time, hope the hangover goes quickly! That is one thing I don't miss! It is great to wakeup each morning hangover free. That said, I tended to get evening hangovers.
Buttons - good luck for your jabs too. What are they like, jabs, when a bit older?
Pink - OH has come out with things like that, but it is often just lack of knowledge. He doesn't have any experience of breastfeeding, but once I'd told him all about it, he was a lot more supportive. Hope weigh in goes well, let us know.
And as we all like talking about poos, does anyone have a LO that only poos at home? LO goes 2-3 times a day, but when visiting he doesn't! He'll hold on 2-3 days and then go when he gets home!
MM - well done on 'the big sleep'!
Tara - congratulations to you and your daughter. I wouldn't feel guilty, I think it is normal for Mummies to worry about thier kids, even when they are grown up!
Sparkle - have a nice time getting nails done. I really should get mine done, but don't think Toby would enjoy it much! Have to leave him with OH soon and get my hair done, my split ends are awful! Hope shaky hand is better - I get awfully shaky when tired, lets hope it is just that.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Hi elle
we did have a good time, thanks, got another tooth and chicken pox under our belts, so all's good. It's taken me since sat to read what you've all been up to!!!!
Congratulations to emlou :T:T:T
and well done to caz, the job sounds great
I'm sure there were other things I should mention, but they escape me for now!
Do you all have those baby activity walkers on wheels? If so how useful do you find them and from what age?
Lots of love, Weezl xxx
I had no idea that baby walkers were such a big thing! I feel a bad mummy now for not having done enough researchAnyway...we have one and LO has been in it for the last month. Her feet have always touched the floor properly. She loves it and I tend to put her in it in the kitchen where the floor is wooden - she scoots about while I do the dishes etc - probably for about 30mins max is her threashold. We got ours from kiddicare.com She's always been good at taking her weight on her feet, pretty much from birth and bounces lots when we hold her hands/under the arms/on the floor/on our knees etc.
glad that the GF-in-law is lovely. Fingers crossed we all get to buy a hat(now I'm showing my age)
My Mam's neighbour was one of the first to get a video. She used to loan it to us when she went on holiday in return for looking after her cats. It was a huge top loader thingy and it sounded like a jet engine when you had to rewind stuff. We used to go to the video hire shop in the local shopping centre and then walk round for ages posing with our hired videos:rotfl:
Also had a huge brick sized walkman. Well it was a red Bush one, not a proper walkman. It had huge orange headphones, and it would only fast forward and not rewind, you if you wanted to listen to a song again you had to turn the cassette over, fast forward a bit and then turn it back over to see if you'd forwarded enough:rotfl:
lol - I had one of those. I spent my life fast forwarding and flipping the cassette over:rotfl:
Some say that it hinders development as baby can learn to walk on their tip toes or the sides of their feet, as the knicker bit is supporting all their weight. Then when they come to walk, they're not walking correctly which causes problems and shoes wear quicker. Others say they are fine and don't cause any problems at all.
thanks - I hadn't appreciated this and will keep and eye out. Her feet do touch the ground properly and although she scoots around in hers I have had a good look this morning and she appears to be using her feet rather than just her toes so I'm happy with it for the time being. It's good to have a forum like this so we don't miss these things:money:
I'm in the negative camp as my Mam was a Clarks fitter and so she's seen the damage to feet they can cause.
Just reminded myself - who was after a bouncer/swing on a frame rather than on a door way?

Is that any use?
thanks - It was me and em I think. I've decided that as she's really getting mobile by herself and have various other things already I'm going to save my money (or rather spend it on other things!)r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Feelie - I think a lot of it is just ignorance TBH. Because she cried quite a lot and was generally unsettled yesterday, he thinks that the formula is some sort of magic potion that will mean she is contented and quiet  Who would have thought that this is his 4th?! I know I will be proved right when I go and get her weighed tomorrow
I know it sounds awful and I feel really ashamed for saying it - but watching her drink the formula was like watching her drink poison. I hated itBut when DS was 4 weeks old he'd been on formula for 3 weeks - it's weird how our minds work!

And me! I've been searching for money off vouchers for the zoo, can only find one for a free child with two adults. Its sooo expensive!
Just had to google the Rake Hall pub - i've never heard of it. It looks good!
