I was always extra careful when she was small ( and have been with Ruby) not to let her get too hot as you hear all the tales of convulsions but when they grow up nobody warned me its very common in teenagers! She has been suffering with migraines too which could be the trigger point but she is taking medication for them now which seem to be working with just a few hiccups along the way! She had an eeg about 8 weeks ago which showed some abnormalities and then had another last week when they put her to sleep get the results back in about 4 weeks for this. Such a worry you think as they get older the worry goes but it dosnt you just find new things to worry about. She is very laid back and positive about it all good job really.:oI was wondering how your DD was getting on. (It was you I was speaking to about my little sister?). Little sis's epilepsy also seem to the age/hormone related - and they've said she could grow out of it just as quickly as she grew into it!! All a bit vague - but at least theres some hope - and with medication she's coping really well.
My dh has epilepsy. His first seizure was when was a month old and then they stopped when he was about 3. They then started again in his late teens (one seizure every 18 months or so) but he hasn't had one for a few years now. He's been on medication since his late teens and was put on a new drug after the last seizure which - touch wood - seems to be controlling it.
His epilepsy is another reason why I'm in the spare room. His seizures tend to be brought on by tiredness and there is just no way I could cope with him out of action for a fortnight (which is how long the seizures knock him sideways for) and a young baby.0 -
Oh, in all my excitement I forgot to say I think my SPD has come back again. Stupid body. Will see how I get on over the weekend, but I forsee another trip to the doctors in the near future if it doesn't sort itself out by Monday

I have gripe water. Do you think that would help? It says suitable from one month. I haven't used it yet.
She's literally just fallen asleep in my arms, but will try the tummy rubbing when she wakes up (as no doubt it won't be too long!). Thank you for the suggestion.ladybirdintheuk wrote: »Oh CS, sounds like you have your hands full there, with DH and baby
If she is a bit constipated she might have a sore tum and that might be why she isn't going to sleep? Not sure what to suggest though. Izzy has been like that recently, but that is because her body is still getting used ot the fact that solids going in one end have to come out the other end tooNot the problem for you I would imagine. Is she on formula or do you BF?
She's on both. I formula feed when she has a feed between 9am and 10am, and then the last feed at night (have just boiled the kettle for it).
She normally has it around now, but I don't know whether to try and dream feed it to her since she's just fallen asleep or to try and put her in her moses basket and then give it to her whenever she wakes up (assuming she doesn't wake up as soon as I put her in her basket, which is one of her favourite tricks).0 -

Oh, and after all the talk of sleeping bags, and 1 very unsettled night (that I suspect was because she had no covers on) I popped into TKMax today and bought a growbag on the cheap... £12.99 anyway... Then when I got home I remembered I had put a bid on a next one on eBay... Oops... Oh well, if I win I won't be paying more than £4 including postage and she'll have one to wash one to wear...
I bought one of those Grobag ones from THAT TKMaxx today tooI wanted to see what the difference was between the super-expensive Grobag ones and the cheapo ones from Tesco (or wherever). Turns out that the difference is about a foot of extra material!!
The one I bought was 6-18 months (not much difference in size there then!!) because I thought Benjamin would be too long for the 0-6m ones. It is massive! There is about a foot of extra space at the bottom!
I will try it at some point but I think I will be keeping hold of it until he is a bit taller.
The best thing was it comes with a nursery thermometer, which we already have but this one helpfully suggests what clothes and what tog of sleeping bag baby should be wearing too
I was watching out for you when I was sat in Starbucks - it's pretty child-friendly in there but out of 8 mums with babies I was the only one that didn't have a bottle.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Choppy, 2 words... growth spurt
When LO poops is it still the same consistency as it has been for the last few days?
Mum's often think LO is constipated but what you describe sounds totally normal babies often screw up face, go red and put effort in, its all normal provided the poop isn't dry (think rabbit poo style pebbles)0 -

Think I might have to take a trip to TK Maxx and see what they've got in..
I've had a lovely evening with friends. Best of all, OH did the cooking for meI went for a shower and when I went in the kitchen, there he was chopping salad, lasagne in the oven and garlic bread ready to go in

Those bibs look everyso cool, and probably useful if you have a dribbly baby, but if not then you'll only be using bibs when you're weaning, and then you want a big the size of a binbag (or to feed him in just his nappy

We didn't make it to clinic yesterday, so thought i'd go make use of the scales in the waiting room at the doctors, but they weren't out today. Only time I've ever known them not to be there. I wanted to get her weighed again to make sure she is still putting on weight, as she is being a bit of a pickle with food this week. Might go back to the doctors on Tuesday and see if the scales are out then, if not I'm sure we can wait until clinic next week.
Anyway, we're off to see my Granny for a few days tomorrow night, so I'd better get on with packing, then we might actually be able to spend some time with DH tomorrow before we go!
I'm guessing the scales possible are away due to swine flu, my doc's have completely stripped the waiting room and put out loads of alcohol rubs insteadi've been thinking thati'm "watching" an old style one which is fairly local so will see how much that ends up at, i'm not bothered about the all singing/all dancing one i just want a ruddy bouncer! have also seen a hop n pop  wondering if that will be good, they seem a bit cheaper...
MFD I was gonna respond to you about something but I've forgottenso hello!

Chopsticks - this is perhaps not very helpful but what you are going through is perfectly normal. Their pooing habits slow down and occasionally they just want to feed and have a cuddle.
Keep an eye on her temperature and how sick she is. Don't forget that she needs to replace the fluids that she is losing.
If you get worried don't hesitate to call NHS Direct or go to the hospital if you think she is really ill. Better safe than sorry.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Yep, the poo is identical to every other day. It's not at all dry.
Hopefully it is just a growth spurt then.
I just tried to put her down in her moses basket while I poured out the water for her bottle and she lasted about 1 minute before she woke up and started crying.
I picked her up and now she's dozing in my arms again. I think I'm going to be for a long night. I can't sleep whilst holding her as I'm too scared I'll suffocate her.0 -

Please note that I have learned enough from you not to comment on the contents of the bottle...merely that bottles were present
At least one of them had a carton on the table thoughI think she was a secret breastfeeder
