I was always extra careful when she was small ( and have been with Ruby) not to let her get too hot as you hear all the tales of convulsions but when they grow up nobody warned me its very common in teenagers! She has been suffering with migraines too which could be the trigger point but she is taking medication for them now which seem to be working with just a few hiccups along the way! She had an eeg about 8 weeks ago which showed some abnormalities and then had another last week when they put her to sleep get the results back in about 4 weeks for this. Such a worry you think as they get older the worry goes but it dosnt you just find new things to worry about. She is very laid back and positive about it all good job really.:o
Bless her. I had a seizure about 6 years ago and went through all the tests. I can honestly say that the EEG is the most unpleasant thing that I have ever experienced (and the glue does nothing for your hair) so she must be very brave to have had 2. I hope it all turns out okay for her.
I have to say though that the way that some people wrap their babies up scares me. In the hospital yesterday there was a woman with a baby that was inside a buggy with a coat and a big thick blanket on him! The hospital was roasting (as they always are - especially on the kids wards) the poor thing must have been sweltering. I think sometimes mums don't realise that heat is much more dangerous to a baby than getting a little cold.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Whats wrong with wrapping bubs up, it was a scorcher up here and I still had El in her winter jacket, you got a prob with that:rotfl:Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
Hi all,
Am typing this one-handed as I have a very grouchy baby tonight. Well, she's been grouchy all day.
I don't know whether she's a bit off colour or just over tired. She slept from 11pm til 3am this morning, woke up to do a poo (her poos are never quiet ) then went back to sleep straight. I wasn't sure whether to wake her or not to change her but next thing I knew it was 3:30am and she was awake for a feed. I put her down at 4am after a feed and nappy change but she wouldn't settle. It was 5:30am before I finally got her settled then she was awake at 6am again. Cue one stressed and crying mummy. DH managed to settle her a bit before he left for work at 7 and we both slept for about another hour and a half.
However, she has barely slept all day. I haven't been able to put her down for long as she just screams. She slept for 20mins in her pram (after I'd rocked her to sleep in my arms) and then slept for about an hour in my arms this afternoon.
Since her bath and feed tonight (at 6pm), she's slept for 20mins. I now have her in my arms as it's the only way she'll stop crying. She's not asleep though.
She's not normally sick at all, but yesterday and today she's been bringing back some milk when I've winded her, plus sometimes I've seen some clear saliva with lumps of milk in escaping her mouth. She's also having problems pooing. She is pooing lots but sounds like she is having real problems getting them out. She screws up her face, her face goes bright red and she makes really loud groaning/straining sounds. It's only been like this today and yesterday. Normally you hear a fart and the poo is out.
Do you think she's over tired and just fighting going to sleep or do you think she might be a bit poorly?
I don't know if I'm just over-reacting. DH is in bed as he's ill. We don't know what's wrong with him but he's been having bad stomach cramps and headaches for weeks now. I finally got him to go to the Drs earlier this week and he had to go for blood tests yesterday. The results don't come back until Monday though. I'm sleeping in the spare room so he gets some sleep (although me bursting into loud noisy sobs at 6am this morning didn't help with that) but he feels guilty because he's not helping out. I don't mind being in the spare room but I just wish Caitlin would sleep. Not knowing whether she's ill or just tired, plus worrying about DH, I just don't know what to do.
Sorry for the moan0 -

I had a fun day today... Decided to just take Aimee to the church group thing, she was fine... And when we got there we discovered it was a stay and play without parents kind of thing so I found myself with 4hrs of no plans and only 1 child... We went to McDonalds for a cup of tea and an apple pie for brunch... Where Caitlyn fed on and off for about an hour... I think she's going through some kind of growth spurt, she's fed loads today... And also been a lot more tired tonight... Probably because every time she dropped off to sleep someone woke her back up again! She's settled now anyway...
Oh, and after all the talk of sleeping bags, and 1 very unsettled night (that I suspect was because she had no covers on) I popped into TKMax today and bought a growbag on the cheap... £12.99 anyway... Then when I got home I remembered I had put a bid on a next one on eBay... Oops... Oh well, if I win I won't be paying more than £4 including postage and she'll have one to wash one to wear...
Elle, Caitlyn has the sit me up cosy... I think it's lovely... But more so when she was tiny, she was all snuggled up in it... I think once she's rolling around she'd be better off on a funky brightly coloured one... She does like to recline in it to watch the simpsons while we eat tea thoughA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I've come in for a little victory dance - I just settled Izzy without feeding her to sleep.
:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:
For the record, I will write what I did below... will now try to do exactly the same thing in future, and tell Mum, DH so they can do it too.
I didn't switch the light on but I did switch on the night light which I'd forgotten to put on earlier ... must remember to put that on, as she seems to wake up more when it's not on (or probably wake up as often as normal, but not settle again on her own I expect?). I picked her up, shhhhedd so she calmed down, and slouched down on the sofa bed with her lying face down on my chest, and I continued to shhhh when she moaned, and rubbed her back. I counted the times I rubbed her back, and every time she stired and lifted herself up from me i started again from zero. When I got to 100 I thought I'd try putting her down, so I kind of slid her onto my arm, and then held her along one arm, and slid my other hand under her hips so I could put her down on her front without disturbing her too much. She woke up a bit, but I shhhhd and rubbed her back a bit and she went off again.
I'm kind of hoping if I can get the back rubbing associated with sleep then in a week or two I will be able to put her down awake and rub her back she will go off?
If this works then next time I will be doing it from the beginning, not at nearly 7 monthsI think she is still waking up hungry when she wakes at 4 or so, so I might have to still feed her then, but when she wakes up around now she is definitely not hungry!

Oh CS, sounds like you have your hands full there, with DH and baby
If she is a bit constipated she might have a sore tum and that might be why she isn't going to sleep? Not sure what to suggest though. Izzy has been like that recently, but that is because her body is still getting used ot the fact that solids going in one end have to come out the other end tooNot the problem for you I would imagine. Is she on formula or do you BF?

CS you can't even give her calpol or anything. Try just rubbing her tummy (clockwise) to see if that helps, coz if she gots a dicky tum it might help settle her. (((((hugs))))) for LO
