    Morning all

What's a typical sleep pattern for a 1-year old? Is an 11 hour night sleep too keen?

I am beginning to think we're putting him to bed too early (around 7.15/7.30, and he's always ready to go down... he has one 90ish-min nap during the day, after lunch) - even when he has a good night, from sometime around 4am+ he is wakeful and restless without fail. Sometimes we get him to go back down again but if so, he wakes within 45 minutes each time. We've tried controlled crying with it but as he usually isn't REALLY crying, just moaning and grinching, his doesn't seem to work.

Contemplating trying a bedtime 30-60 mins later and seeing if that impacts waking time, but we were pretty happy to be back into an evening routine and I hate to mess with it :| hmmmmmmph.

Hello to the new joiners, and some great pictures there, thanks! Having a grumpy day so far today so cheery babies always helpful ;p

Morning Bruno, Millie alwaya needed at least 12hours and still does! But as I think we all know they are all different.

Is Elijah walking yet? Once they find their feet they can get tired out so if you are on the verge of a breakthrough there I would avoid moving to a later bedtime in case you need to bring it forward again.

Interesting point, thanks MM; he is tottering and balancing a lot but falling over when he takes steps, so yes, probably on the verge of a breakthrough. Fingers crossed that'll make a difference!

Haveent had time to catch up? have a busy day but thought i better nip on and tell you i did go to the doctors and i have been given lofepramine, tolod her everything and she gave me a row for not going sooner. she said that i shouldnt hide it and at least now i can only get better and stop beating myself up feeling like a failure. She was lovely and talked to me for ages. I even told her about Charlie and she wants me to take him in next week and is going to refer him to the hospital so that the doctors there can make an assessment. I explained it could all just be me but the fact people comment on him she said she would prefer to get him checked out. right better go get this lot sorted need to tidy before my friend comes to do my hair!
thanks for being so wonderful ladies and Bruno! xxxxx

  • Well done Jayden :) Now if he could just pass the secret on to all the other little babies that would be fab!

Mrs T, that is a great photo :)

And Caz, I'm glad you've been off to the docs... hopefuly this will do the trick for you :)

The ring sling I ordered turned up this morning, so I'm going to give it a trial run when we go to the supermarket later. I'm waiting in for my scanner though. It is meant to be coming this morning. I hope they hurry up, as I have a friend coming for lunch, and I have an idea of what to cook that involves an aubergine, and I don't have an aubergine... i suppose I can always get him to pick one up on his way here. (I have leftover lemon rice, indian potato salad and egg from lunch at my mums yesterday, so I thought a bit of curry to go with it would go down a treat :) )

Anyway, best get on - in laws are coming over tonight, so I need to clean the bathroom, and continue sorting out in here enough for them to fit in the living room!

Really glad you had an understanding Dr Caz :) At least you know you can go and talk to her when you feel things are getting on top of you!

Bruno, Aimee has never needed much sleep and even now only gets about 9hrs a night when I'm sure she should be needing 12... like MM said, they're all different... I used to put Aimee into my bed when she woke early and the warmth, cuddles and a feed would usually put her back asleep for another hour or so... But that suited me, and now she's 5 she rarely comes and gets into the bed...

So much for getting ready and going out early... Caitlyn had another feed (to replace what she threw over me) and went back to sleep about 3hrs ago... Still, I'm dressed, Aimee's dressed and we have a bag of fruit and snacks packed so we can just go out as soon as madame is awake and dressed...

Oooh, Rmac, I have 3 aubergine here you're welcome to 1... They were £1 on the market yesterday and I couldn't resist... I just need to find a recipe to use them with... I have a Jamie Oliver recipe that's nice but makes enough to feed a small army... Do you think I could freeze half the sauce if I didn't add the pasta to it?
