Craig is so much better with Rhys than I am! Maybe it comes from him going up to the unit more than me in the early days (after the c section) and seeing how the nurses cared for Rhys which made him more relaxed. I was always worried about breaking him! :o

For the first few weeks we were the same - I was much more relaxed with Elijah than OH was. Very much evened out over time though, she's definitely better with his problems than I am now by virtue of just spending more time with him than me :|

Benjamins illness has now passed from him to hubby to me :( I spent most of the night trying not to be sick...which in hindsight I probably would have been better doing (sorry TMI). Then Benjamin decided to wake at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm before I gave up and put him in with us. Not like him at all...although I didn't put him in a sleeping bag last night because he had a fleecy sleepsuit on so I am now thinking he may have been cold

Sounds very miserable MFD...I hope it's just a 24-hour bug? Your posts later today seem a bit more cheery? :)
There is something on my mind and I need you lot to give me a bit of perspective

We started Baby Bop last week and really enjoyed it (apart from the fact that it was a bit baby-signing oriented when I am not a fan of baby-signing but that is another discussion...)

One of the songs we did was 'If you're happy and you know it' which is fine...apart from the fact that the second verse had been changed to:

'If you're angry and you know it stamp your feet' - with angry faces and stamping motions to go along with it.

Now I know Benjamin is only 20 weeks but I am not sure that I want my child to be taught to stamp his feet when he is angry

They also do 'if you're sad and you know it have a cry' which I didn't like much either...

So - am I being ridiculous or do you think I should say something? The lady who takes the class had removed 'the grand old duke of york' from the class at the request of one of the other ladies (who was unable to do the actions with her child) so I don't think it would be a major issue to not do it...but do I really want to make a fuss?

For what it is worth, last week I just kept singing 'happy and you know it' to Benjamin so I guess I could just keep on doing that....but it seems a bit cowardly not to say anything if I feel that strongly about it...

Hope somebody understands what I am waffling about and why it is playing on my mind :o

Edit - the woman who does the class is much more touchy-feely than me so I think she may understand what I am talking about...maybe....

I think that absolutely makes sense, it's a slightly off message, have a non-aggressive word when you get a quiet chance to? I wouldn't be keen to teach my baby to be angry and stamp his feet!

I wouldn't leave a sleeping baby on a pillow or a duvet but honestly - it is a rest if they are just a foot away for a short while!

If she is happiest in her carry cot then use it...whatever you do now will change in a few weeks anyway (when she is a bit more used to the world)

Will try to find a pic but basically you lay your arm flat at shoulder height (or even tuck it under your head) and baby goes on the bed at boob level (so the top of their head kind of touches the bottom of your arm IYSWIM)

    off to find a pic

This is a fab website with step by step pics link

oooh that looks brilliant - I have been thinking of getting my LO something like this as we are out and about quite a lot and have discovered just how horrible restaurant high chairs can be (and also useful for granny's house). I really hope that we get one if it's bizziebaby........

Congratulations if you won a competition - I'm trying not to be jealous!!:o;):T

They are great I got one free with a mag before El was born, mine is a Jo Jo mama one.
Hi Can I join? I've been reading various MSE threads for a while now and thought it about time I joined. My daughter Harriet is 5 months old today, we've got a nice little routine going which allows me enough time to browse the web while she attacks various toys! Looking forward to joining in the fun...

Hello and Welcome. I'm highly surprised you haven't had your welcome grilling from MFD :rotfl::rotfl:

I feel a lot brighter thanks Bruno...I won't tell you how I brightened up but my body has been purged _pale_

Don't get me wrong - it's not like I believe that Benjamin won't learn to be angry and stamp his feet all by himself  but why do we need to sing about it?
When I was a kid we stamped our feet because we were happy :D

LOL - I have a nursery rhyme CD on at the moment and they are singing Knee up Mother Brown - and it says 'if I catch you bending, I'll saw your legs right off'
    I give up :rotfl:

    Skinty - forgot these (((HUGS)))

Somebody told me early on that things change at 6 weeks and the thought of that kept me going when I was completely drained. I can't tell you what happened at 6 weeks but I know that at some point life got easier and it felt great to have a baby!!!

I've been trying to catch up but haven;t got time, I need some help please ladies.

As you know, Lilia and I have thrush. She is 13 days old today and we have been taking the treatements (Daktarin gel for her, clotrimazole for me) for seven days now and I can;t see any real improvement.

We rub teh gel on the spots on the top of her mouth four times a day, and I put my cream on my nipples after every feed and sometimes at other times too, like if I manage to have a bath.

Does anyone know how long it takes to show improvement? the Gp said to use it for up to two weeks, but I thought I'd be seeing changes by now and am disheartened we are not.

I was told that Alexandra's Thrush was actually quite bad (and was certainly causing us loads of feeding problems!) as was mine... but we saw significant improvement in the first week - I'd even say in the first couple of days! So I'm not sure why it's not improving for Lilia - have you asked your HV? If you call them and ask them to come out they can check for you and see if there is something the GP can prescribe as an alternative... It's a fungus so I don't know if it could have gotten resistant? Don't know enough about fungi... :)

Thanks. OH got her to sleep and she;'s in her carrycot. Going to lie down and see how much sleep I can get now. So tired.

Will look at link, thank you.

EDIt - think my bottom arm will go dead, it looks v similar to what I already tried, but will give it another go and see. Not gonna be easy with OH in bed too though!

Hurrah, I've just spoken to the dietician and we're fine to try breastfeeding. Should still do 8 feeds of 50ml with the milk powders (to inhibit Rhys' potassium levels, plus as a fortifer to help him gain weight) but aim to top him up with a few breastfeeds a day too :) Good job I phoned cos she's not going to be there at the app next week.

I feed Benjamin in bed with hubby and we are all considerably larger than you and yours ;)

    You just need to relax.

    Hope you get some rest.

I don;t know how to feed lying down. When I have tried my arm has gone dead and I've had to loom over her like I'm doing push ups. Obviusly not doing it right!
I found it awkward at first but over time I gradually found I was able to get in a more confortable position.
