Skinty, when you're back on. It's all completely normal but just not what you're lead to believe it will be like. I just think it's more realistic to know that for the first few weeks you do nothing but cuddle, nappies and feed and your time doesn't figure but it does get easier honest. This time as I know Maddy is my last baby I'm not bothered about carrying her around. There is a positive side, they grow so fast so make the most of just sitting and holding cos in a couple of months it'll be over. Then you'll blink and she'll be starting school. And I do sleep semi-sitting up. XXX

Edit, and to those who say I'm spoiling her with my time, too right I am.
Too many children, too little time!!!
    :p

MFD's very useful initiation questions :)

    How's it going so far?
    How is Harriet?
    BF? FF?
    Sleeping?
    Windy?
    How's her poops?
    Is Harriet your first?
    What did you do pre-baby?
Are you going back to work?
    Are you planning no.2 already?

Ya know, I'm proud I did all that searching and typing with one hand - Rhys is asleep on my other one.. lost all feeling ten mins ago! :(
  • Ok here goes, 1 handed too - other hand being gummed by child - nice!

How's it going so far? - not too bad
    How is Harriet? - perfect
BF? FF? - ff now, bf for 2 months but had so many probs (poor weight gain, re-hospitalised for poor feeding, red sick from blood in milk, mastitis etc) still get a bit upset by it but have nicely chilled baby now
Sleeping? - v good we get from about 7pm to 6 with a dream feed, sure that will change as the teeth come through
Windy? - no more than mum and dad
    How's her poops? - stinky
Is Harriet your first? - yes
What did you do pre-baby? - work full time in london
Are you going back to work? - yes but hopefully part time
Are you planning no.2 already? hmm would like to but not sure when, and only if they will guarantee one as cute a H!

Ya know, I'm proud I did all that searching and typing with one hand - Rhys is asleep on my other one.. lost all feeling ten mins ago! :(

Phew - hope that looks ok, not used to the quoty thing!

Well done, fully initiated now :D

I really should be doing something productive - just realised today is our only day at home with no appointments for two weeks  - but I'm say here watching Rhys smack his lips together like a goldfish in his sleep! :rotfl:

did any one see the thing on tv about potty training, it said in the 50s that kids were all out of nappies day and night by 18months and now the adverage is 7 years old! can u imagine a 7 year old in nappies?

am taking erin to docs just got emergency app for 2.20 as i cant get her to feed or her temp down?
that's the power of terry nappies ;) I think the 7yrs thing is for night time tho but I heard the ave age to be day time trained was between 3 and 4yrs which is still pretty late, I refuse to be changing Chris's nappies that long!

    Hope Erin is ok xx
There is something on my mind and I need you lot to give me a bit of perspective

We started Baby Bop last week and really enjoyed it (apart from the fact that it was a bit baby-signing oriented when I am not a fan of baby-signing but that is another discussion...)

One of the songs we did was 'If you're happy and you know it' which is fine...apart from the fact that the second verse had been changed to:

'If you're angry and you know it stamp your feet' - with angry faces and stamping motions to go along with it.

Now I know Benjamin is only 20 weeks but I am not sure that I want my child to be taught to stamp his feet when he is angry

They also do 'if you're sad and you know it have a cry' which I didn't like much either...

So - am I being ridiculous or do you think I should say something? The lady who takes the class had removed 'the grand old duke of york' from the class at the request of one of the other ladies (who was unable to do the actions with her child) so I don't think it would be a major issue to not do it...but do I really want to make a fuss?

For what it is worth, last week I just kept singing 'happy and you know it' to Benjamin so I guess I could just keep on doing that....but it seems a bit cowardly not to say anything if I feel that strongly about it...

Hope somebody understands what I am waffling about and why it is playing on my mind :o

Edit - the woman who does the class is much more touchy-feely than me so I think she may understand what I am talking about...maybe....
say something! I wouldn't want to encourage a child to stamp their feet like that either
whats wrong with the original song anyway? I'm sick of all this silliness, I sang about black sheep and didn't turn into a racist :p (sorry slight tangent there!)

I've been trying to catch up but haven;t got time, I need some help please ladies.

As you know, Lilia and I have thrush. She is 13 days old today and we have been taking the treatements (Daktarin gel for her, clotrimazole for me) for seven days now and I can;t see any real improvement.

We rub teh gel on the spots on the top of her mouth four times a day, and I put my cream on my nipples after every feed and sometimes at other times too, like if I manage to have a bath.

Does anyone know how long it takes to show improvement? the Gp said to use it for up to two weeks, but I thought I'd be seeing changes by now and am disheartened we are not.

Lilia is also strugglng to sleep which may be related or may not. Any tips on how to get her to go off when she is obviously exhausted but for some reason fights it?

I find she goes to sleep in our arms but then wakes when we put her down, but we cannot sleep sitting up!

We are both exhausted and I am becoming scared to try and lie down for a sleep as every time i do she wakes and needs me to feed her so I only get 10 mins at a time.

When does all this get better? I am beginning to lose it cos of being so sleep-deprived and am petrified of being left in the house alone with her in case she cries :(

WE had some cranial sacrotherapy today which I'm hoping will make a difference - apparently her diaphragm and neck were tight which might explain the diffiuclty pooing and the reluctance to lie on her back.

But she has still had a crying fit since, and is now refusing to go to sleep despite being sooo sleeeepy.

    What can we do?

    Have a dodgy hug :grouphug:
I haven't referesh before answering so you've probably been answered but anyway.. as MFD says put her down somewhere warm one she's asleep is my tip too. I hope she's gets better with it they usually do :)

Well we're back, Ed's manky eye was too dry to swab but the GP decided I'm compus mentus (sp?) enough to be able to swab it myself and drop the sample back in ;) he weighs 11lb 14oz now  what a beast. then he was just nodding off when he got jabbed, poor love he's got 2 little spots of blood on his pants :(
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
