Susan - I agree there are parents and people who do it because they want the glory and money etc - good grief my stepsister is one of them! To this day she's too precious to do a days honest work. But that doesn't mean everyone are like that and saying child modeling is disgusting or distasteful is a very sweeping generalisation which I object to...
It's the same as children doing sports etc from a very young age - some parents push and push and others are just happy if their kids are enjoying it... I would seriously hope I fall in the second category! If Alexandra did get picked then I'd only do it if she turned out to enjoy it. I'd love for her to do martial arts when she's older, but again - only if she actually enjoyed it... :)

Anyway I'm probably a little more sensitive after being wound up by another thread on here... LOL

Elle - perhaps rotate your freezer stock? Use up the milk in the 50ml pots, and refill them. Any excess you get that you can't fit in the 50ml pots, put in larger tubs? He'll be eating more in the not too distant future, so you could keep 'fresher' frozen milk in 50ml ones, using that, and put excess in 100ml tubs? (Does that make sense?)

Yup, makes sense and that's what I have been doing, but there's still more (yay for Domperidone! :o)..

Right, nurse has just left. Rhys is 5lb 11oz now - hurrah :D We can give him half an ounce of cooled boiled water instead of gripe water if we need to. As expected he squealed when the heel pr1ck thing went in but was alright for the rest of the time. They'll phone me with the blood test results tomorrow :)

I completely understand you being wound up!

I hope I didn't come across as too harsh. I just dislike the whole modelling thing, but that is probably because I'm unattractive :rotfl:

Sounds good Elle, Rhys is getting fat!
why the yay Domperidone? What's Rhys on it for if I can ask? Elijah is on it for reflux, and it seems good for that!

We're both on it. Rhys for his reflux and me for increasing milk supply - the "yay" being for the latter :)

Wow, I didn't know it could be prescribed for milk supply. Thanks :)

Its brilliant. I had a short course, as although I technically had a full supply, I also had a very hungry baby who wanted 1200ml every day. Wouldn't have been able to keep up with him without it.

It's a welcome (to me) side effect. The nurses on the NeoNatal unit suggested I ask my GP for it - some will, some won't prescribe it as that's not what it's for. Because of Rhys' kidney problems, breast milk is the best thing for him so it's important (to him, me, and us) that I keep my milk supply up which I couldn't/can't do on my own cos we were low on skin-to-skin and high on stress in the early weeks so my GP agreed. If they don't, you can buy it over the counter but it's about £4.50 for 10 tablets so it mounts up.
  • My poor baby boy is really struggling with his teeth today :( we have had tons of tears and he is not usually a big cryer.

I have tried everything in my arsenal to calm him and nothing has worked for longer than 5 minutes.

Worst of all, he won't feed from me at all - just screams and squeals every time I bring him close  I had to give in and give him a bottle of EBM in the end (complete with streaming tears)
