FE I'm so glad everything was ok at your scan - I was very worried when I started reading your post! Whoever thought that being pregnant would be this stressfull/worrying/emotional!
    A.x

Sorry to have worried you! ...I know what you mean - I sometimes long for the naieve days when we thought we 'just' needed to get that elusive BFP and everything would be plain sailing from there!

Was supposed to have 1st MW appt yesterday - but they made a real muck-up of the appt.
They had apparantly 'moved' all the Monday appts from the main baby clinic (again due to the swine-flu), to Tuesday at my GP's clinic, but my name wasn't there anyhow…but then they 'found' my pack in the booking clerks desk - with Tuesday at 3.00 written on it (although they had another lady booked in for that time in the diary).
Mine was def. supposed to be Monday at my clinic when I booked it - I wrote it straight in my diary and remember commenting to the clerk that I would be 10 weeks at the appt. on the 10th!
Still, the lead MW did see me and did all the stuff (despite the PC crashing twice!). Bit glad in a way that she won't be my 'named' MW, as although she is nice she is very 'fluffy' and I would prefer someone a bit more straightforward and down-to-earth (mind you - I only have a name for my MW at the mo - not met her so she might be the same!).
Due to previous complications and being an IVF baby I will be consultant-led at the hospital - I have an appt to meet him on 29th Sept - she assured me he is a 'very very nice man' (I resisted the temptation to ask if he actually worked for the AA - it would probably have gone over her head I suspect….LOL).
One really good thing was that despite not having taken my BP meds for a couple of days, BP was 120/68 - which is amazingly low for me!

Apart from that I dipped a toe into Ebay yesterday (banned myself from it last year as it was taking up too much time and I was buying unnecessary cr*p!) and put in acouple of bids on things like cots & bouncers in the local area - plenty of time left to look if I don't get them, but bargains if I do!

The HR girl left me a message yesterday that she wants to 'update' me on the redundancy situation, but I can't get hold of her today, so I am left wondering... Trying not to worry though - que sera & all that!

    Have a good day all!

    Hello Everyone,
Glad that everything seems to be going smoothly for us all.
Got my 2nd midwife appointment tomorrow,so all being well,I'll be hearing the babies heartbeat for the first time - I know that I've seen it on the scans but there's nothing like that sound to make it real !!!!!

Nickabella - I'm 16 weeks now & still finding it hard to relax. When you've had problems TTC or in pregnancy you know that its not something that you can take for granted.

FE - I'm also under consultant led care because a) its IVF b)I've had gestational diabetes before c) I'm geriatric !!! Mind you its a shock to the system being back in the NHS system,I had to wait 50 mins for my last scan !!! oh well,at least it reminds me what its like to be a patient !!(I work for the NHS).

Nicki - After 3 pregnancies I don't thing that it'll only be my knickers that are round by ankles !!!

Sominum - The mothercare baby plan sounds tempting - Mind you I know what I'm like,I'll end up spending twice as much as I should on things that I "just can't live without"

Enjoy your scan today FairyElephant. Hope you are able to post a few pics of your bean when you get back.
  • Nikabella - How did the MW appt go?

I'm off for my 1st 'official' (not counting last week's panic!) NHS scan today - so looking forward to seeing LO this time!

Had a look in a 'baby shop' yesterday with mum - just to get an idea of the pushchairs/travel systems. Really liked the Graco one (the top of the range one of course - LOL!) which is coming with lots of free accessories at the moment. It seems to tick all my boxes, and has some quirky extras (I'd never though of a built-in clock and cup-holders on a pram/pushchair - let alone the mobile-phone holder!!!!). It's £271 at the mo in this little independant shop near me, so will have to check out on the web if this is a good price. Practically everything else is going to be 2nd hand, but we have to have a new car-seat, so seriously considering a new travel system. Mum was amazed at how things have changed since her day.....but also not horrified at the price considering what was included - so I think that she may be offering to buy it, bless her!

OOh thanks - I'll try, but I'm not very 'techie minded' so can't promise!

  • Well I'm back! No good piccies I'm afraid - the LO just did not want to behave for the cameras!

1st sonographer took ages to find it, and then couldn't get a clear picture (despite really digging in to me even though I'd told her my bladder was very full and I was desparate for the loo - thought at one point I would wet myself on the bed!). She was not happy with the measurements (it kept wrigging) so called in a nurse.
Nurse found it much faster, but by then it had curled into a tight little ball, so she couldn't get accurate measurement at all!
Was then told to go to the loo, as maybe the bladder was too full and putting too much pressure on the baby (!) and try to stop mid-stream - this is far easier said than done when you have wanted to go for ages!
Came back and she had another go, managing to get some measurements this time, but neither was convinced of their accuracy! They actually put me 2 days behind, but I'm not convinced either, so will stick (in my mind at least) to the original dates. After all, hardly any actually arrive when they are 'supposed' to do they?!
The good thing is that it seems to be healthy and developing normally, and has a good strong heartbeat, which is all that matters really.

Hope you all have a good weekend,

    FE -x-

FE - what a bummer about your scan! Good though that you know LO is healthy and developing fine tho, hope your next scan is better.

  • Glad that everyones doing well :)

I've been seeing the consultant too, although thankfully i managed to opt out of the hospital system a few weeks ago and am now seeing community midwives who have a more similar view on pregnancy and birth as i do. The hospital would have me waiting at least 1-2 hours for each appointment, but the community midwives are far quicker.

I had that typical early bloating in pregnancy giving the 'bump' shape very early on, but as with all pregnancies i could tell the difference when the uterus rises up out of the pelvis and you start to get the proper hard bump from 12 weeks. I was pretty big from then on and huge at 22 weeks, although i look about average now at 36 weeks (whatever average is in pregnancy LOL).

With the Mothercare offers, i still found it much cheaper to just buy Mothercare stuff brand new off ebay, well below half price! :)

The nesting is nagging away at me, although unfortunately with the SPD it makes it physically impossible to get things done around the house, SOO frustrating when i desperately want to clean everything 100x over and have everything all perfect for babys arrival! I can't wait to get the birth pool set up and have a little float lol
  • Hi guys, hope I'm in the right thread now.

I have had my tubes removed and so have to do IVF we've done this once and it ended up with a pregnancy which attached itself behind my womb and not in it.

In 2000 I had my tubes removed and then again last year when I had three cysts removed and my tubes removed again  my GP doesn't understand this either as the op in 2000 was just to remove them as they were blocked and so as it was two dif hospitals someone made a blunder.

Anyway fast forward to now and I have now missed two A/Fs and started getting headaches, hot flushes a month ago and this month feeling sick, excessive saliva, feeling extremely tired, backache and a few other symptoms.

My head is telling me it's impossible to be PG, but my body is telling me different.

Is there anything other than PG which would cause the same symptoms?
