Thank you for the support the other evening. The pain finally went after about 48 hours & I'm feeling much better now. If the pain comes back I will make an appointment to see my GP.

I have just got my first midwife appointment through, which is for next Wednesday, and so it's going to be a mixed week of emotions. I'm dreading the week as it will be week 8 but I'm looking forward to hopefully making it as far as the midwife appointment this time.

myaccount I have asked again for a homebirth, which I also want to be a waterbirth but I didn't realise they could refuse you having a waterbirth at home? I'll be very frustrated if that is the opinion of the midwife team in my town as I will have to choose whether I would rather have a non-water homebirth or drive quite a way to the midwife led birthing centre nearest us for a waterbirth

  • Hi Everyone!

Nikabella - glad you feel better. They told me that the key thing to watch for with Ectopic PG s is 'shoulder tip pain' which is just what it says - but I have to say that I did not get this at all (not wanting to worry you Hun!) - but then when I had mine I didn't get any pains either, I felt quite well - which puzzled the hospital completely!
This time around I have had lots of pains as you describe, and the GP told me it's 'normal - just the muscles, ligaments etc. stretching & relaxing in preparation (which is why they don't recommend lots of exercise in the 1st 12 weeks as you can over-stretch stuff!).
Also for me, the nurse at the fertility clinic when she did my scan said my ovary area was still really swollen from the IVF, which explained my lower pains.

I'm just really tired at the moment - having to get up to P several times a night, and having horrible dreams in between is not helping. Sickness seems to have subsided into occasional nausea which seems to be solved by ginger biscuits! I am more emtional than usual though - getting worried over little things which previously wouldn't have bothered me - suppose it is all down to the hormones!
The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
..."Mind yer a*se on the step!"

    Hello ladies,

Glad you are feeling better nickabella.I had a bit of ligament pain in the first few weeks, and like FE said, its perfectly normal.
Mind you trying not to worry is easier said than done !!

Myaccount - You sound so organised - All you need now is a Baby . I'd also spotted the bargain M&P swing in Argos, but they'd sold out !!!

FE - I know where you're coming from with the tiredness - I could sleep for england, It may seem stupid but even a leisurely stroll round the shops leaves me needing an afternoon nap !! I'm feeling wayyyyyyyy to old for all of this. Goodness only knows How I'm going to feel in a few months - luckily OH does more than his fair share of house work & looking after DS !!!

Sominum - Did you manage to get any more bargains at the car boot yesterday ?

Nicki - Hope every things OK with you.Mind you It won't be long until well meaning friends, neighbours, relatives etc see you waddling down the street only to ask "oh have you had it yet then?" line How anybody manages not to scream "do I look as if I've bl**dy had it yet" god only knows.

    Take care everyone

At the moment all my not so close friends and acquaintances are saying when they see me "Oh, only a few weeks now, you're due in August aren't you?" and looking flabbergasted when I reply actually I'm not due until October. I must be absolutely huge! And a woman serving in BHS today told me my bump was very low, and I'd not be long now .

I am absolutely shattered atm. Wake up exhausted in the morning and by 11.00am am virtually on my knees ready to collapse. So wish the baby would hurry up and arrive, but not at 32 weeks thanks all the same! Never pleased, that's me...

Nottslass - car boot was a bit pants yesterday so only managed to pickup the one bargain, some new nature care toiletries for 1.50 for 4 otherwise dissapointing.

Niki - that would drive me potty all those folk offering opinions, poor you xx

FE - am glad the MS is subsiding. Am with you on the peeing and bad dreams too, altho mine are more weird than bad.

Nikabella - am happy for you that the pain has gone, the ones I get when coughing or sneezing are bad enough. Good luck for your MW appt on Wed, I have my first tomorrow too.

Well pants day at work, we are having a stock audit tomorrow and as usual I get the heavy (figurativley speaking) end of the work! Its not gonna be done in time and the boss just doesn't seem to be bothered. So now neither am I!

Hope everything goes ok with the MW today - I know its easier said than done, but remember spotting is very common in the first 12 weeks.

Thanks, notslass. MW said she wouldn't be concerned unless it became heavy and painful, and have had nothing today so am ok with it. Its just one of them things I suppose!

Hey ladies finally got the date through for my 12 week scan yesterday, its on Wed 19th August so not too long to wait. I'll actually be 12+4 so pretty good timing. Am looking forward to seeing bean again :D

Met up with a group of ladies from Fertility Friends last night, who have all either been treated or are about to be treated for IVF/ICSI. Really nice evening and to be able to chat to others in similar situations or about to go through it was refreshing. Had a good laugh and lovely food, and we should hopefully doing it again later next month. Hopefully we'll have a couple more BFPs by then :D
