'Morning Ladies!
Well, we've had a scary couple of days! - I started getting nasty pains in my left side on Tuesday, and then Weds started spotting too - bringing back very bad memories of how the miscarriage started in Jan.
Many telephone calls later I'm referred to the EPC (been there far too many times for my liking already!) and spent yesterday morning there - mostly waiting (3 hours). They decided that as I'm over 9 weeks they would try an ultrasound (luckily the GP had warned me they might, so i'd drunk loads in the morning - then I was in agony wanting to go to the loo!) and happily they were able to see the baby and it is fine! I hardly saw the screen as my eyes were full of tears, but DH reckoned it actually looked 'baby shaped'! They found a darker area roughly where the other sac had been, so decided that the pain & blood was probably that coming away, which we had been warned might happen, but were just so relieved that beanie#1 is doing well - only 1 day behind my original date! (I'm sticking to the original in my head, as it would have been my Nan's birthday!)
I thought they might cancel my planned scan next Fri, but the sonographer, after saying this would normally be the case, said 'but I expect you'd really rather prefer to come in again wouldn't you - it will probably have developed quite a bit more by then and you'll get better pictures!' - bless her! Of course we said we would! Hopefully I won't be crying this time and I'll get a proper look!
Went to Ikea in the afternoon with Mum, who wanted some new lights, and spent quite a while in the baby dept! Got some good ideas for the baby's room (especially a ceiling light like a big sun!), found a cot I like, and picked out some bedding etc - but didn't actually buy anything except some cheap towels - 4 small ones at 59p each (a bit bigger than flannels - should cut down into 4 'reusable wipes' each) and 2 med ones at 99p each (about the size of normal handtowels) to use as baby towels.
Thought DH would do his 'eye rolling thing' when I came home full of decoration & lighting ideas, but he was still so happy about the scan that he didn't bat an eyelid - LOL!
Hope everyone is feeling OK - have a good weekend Ladies & Bumps!

I'm glad everything is OK Fairy Elephant. My heart was in my mouth when I started to read your post given how it started. It is fantastic to see bubs properly for the first time on the scan though, and I'm really pleased you're getting a second chance when you are not scared out of your wits to see him or her again next week.
I have a scan booked for the week after next when I'll be 34 weeks, as baby is currently breach, and to check growth. My first was a planned c section because he was also breach, and my second was a vbac but with lots of complications, which have left me very stressed and anxious about another normal birth. So it looks like I will be having another planned c section this time round at around 38 weeks (Fingers and toes crossed). Which means I have only a little over a calendar month left to go :eek:0 -

EEEK! That's really exciting though!
Sorry - didn't mean to scare you at the start of my post!
Somnium - glad the MW put your mind at rest. Great to have a scan date to work to isn't it? I was really surpised that mine came through at 10+4 instead of 12wks, especially as I'd been warned that they were running late with them....it will make a it a long time between that and the 20wk one though - I'll probably be getting jittery in between! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Its a bit quite on here.
Collected a lovely swinging crib that we 'won' on ebay yesterday - its an absolute bargain at £41,in great condition with lovely Peter Rabbit drapes.
Also collected my free Huggies starter pack from ASDA (voucher in the bounty pack). Its not bad as it contains a pack of newborn nappies, wipes and some money off vouchers.
I seem to be getting fatter by the day (or maybe its the chocolate) My "normal" clothes are well and truly too small now - I know that they say you start to show earlier if you've been pregnant before, but I hope its just an Early growth spurt and things will even out later on.
Me and OH are going to Majorca next Sunday -MIL is having DS - she did the same last year-It was great having a week on our own.Mind you,I expect this will be the last year she'll offer,as I can't see her being quite so enthusiastic at the prospect of looking after two children !
Hope everyone is feeling well.

Notslass- I already am struggling with certain clothes and spend alot of time with the top button of my trousers undone for comfort! Work ordered me mat clothes but dont think I'll fit in them for months yet there huge and yet only same size as my regular clothes according to labels! Crib sounds fab and a real bargain so well done you, maybe you could post a pic for us?
Oh and as promised to try and keep you ladies upto date with Mothercare baragains.. there is a promotion running till 31st of August where by if you start a Baby Plan and spend over £150 you'll automatically get a discount. Its not exctly 10% but close so spend between £150 and £249 you'll save £15, spend £250 to £349 and you save £25, and so on. Not sure if thats clear and I know its not amazing but ever little helps right?Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

'Morning Ladies & Bumps!
A fairly quiet w/e chez FE - DH is doing rewiring at Mum's (been waiting for ages to do it as it really was way overdue, but couldn't do it while dad was in the house as he'd be bound to fall down floorboards etc! - not to mention we can't stand spending much time there with his constant smoking - so have to make the most of it while he is care), so Mum & I did some shopping, had lunch out and visited Dad, just to keep out of the way really!
1st Midwife appt this afternoon - looking forward to it, but for some reason a bit nervous - hope we get on OK!
Nottslass - well I am 'showing' already - at 10 weeks! I put some of it down to doing no exercise since ET - but as I have only actually put on about 2lbs I guess that a lot of it due to changing shape. My watch strap is loose and my face looks thinner, so I think it's all being redistributed to my tummy!
Well done on your bargain BTW - I am deparate to start buying stuff and reorganising the house, but apart from not really having the energy yet, DH thinks it is far too soon and won't let me yet!!!
I did manage to get 4 bags of stuff to the charity shop on Sat, so at least I am starting to de-clutter in prepapration for re-filling the house with baby stuff!
Have a good day everyone,

I showed really early too. My DS (aged 9) guessed when I was only 5 week pregnant, I was in maternity clothes by about week 7, and by the time I was ready to make an announcement to friends at 12 weeks, they all knew already because of my shape! I was convinced until my 20 week scan that I might be having twins which had been missed on the 2 earlier scans I'd had!
Now at nearly 33 weeks, I am a normalish size for my gestation. I feel huge of course, but when I compare myself to other mums at the same stage I'm not bigger than them, so I definitely "grew into" my bump. The way I rationalised it to my DH was that this is my 3rd full term pregnancy and your abdominal muscles are like knicker elastic. You might be able to keep your knickers in good shape if you wore them for 9 or even 18 months, but if you tried to wear them for 27 months, however well you had looked after them, the elastic would be pretty shot, and they'd be down round your ankles by the end!0 -
Hey everyone,
Well I'm in week 8 now and although I've been dreading it I'm trying not to dwell on it. Feeling very pregnant, 24 hour nausea and gone up 3 bra sizes already so hoping that these are all good signs that this time is different.
I have my midwife appointment on Wednesday (all being well) and I am hoping that this midwife will be as pro homebirth as the last one. I also got my scan date through - 28th August when I'll be 10w+4 - so I'm holding out for then & not going for an early scan.
With regards to showing, I didn't show until 6 and a half months with DD, however, with the pregnancy I lost my trousers were getting tight at 8 weeks so I completely agree with the knicker elastic analogy! This time I unfortunately lost about half a stone the week before I found out I was pregnant as I was on holiday & I'm a fussy eater so that has put me back into being very under weight so my trousers are unlikely to be too tight so soon.
Everyone sounds to have been doing some good shopping & bargain hunting! I don't think we will need to buy anything really as we have everything from DD - well apart from boys clothes if it's a boy otherwise he might grow up to have a complex :rotfl:We have a Jane pram from DD but I want a Bugaboo Bee as well, Nicki you will have to let me know how wonderful it is! The Jane was about £600 full price (we got it for less through an ebay powerseller) so I know getting another pram isn't very MSE but...... ok well I don't have any valid excuses
FE I'm so glad everything was ok at your scan - I was very worried when I started reading your post! Whoever thought that being pregnant would be this stressfull/worrying/emotional!
