Can webmaster overule a decision made by lets say, the forum manager?

I know we have an ignore function, and I don't know if anyone else would be interested in this, but a block function would be nice. A "real-life" tormenter of mine monitors my posts here and makes comments about them elsewhere. Being able to block individuals from clicking on your profile (thus preventing them searching all your posts) would be welcomed; obviously, for example if I'd posted here and said person was reading here, they could see my post, just not click on my profile. Generally speaking though, would anyone else like to see this? Not sure if it's even doable...PS I won't report this person as they've done nothing wrong here (the minute they do, I will)

I think this is a really good idea. I've been a victim of something similar, and would have welcomed the ability to prevent the person from 'following' me around the forum. Some posters, especially 'newbies' also inadvertently give away a lot of personal information, and this would enable them to protect themselves from people who have caused problems for them.

It would need to be fairly discreet though, something like 'this person's profile is private', and newbies would have to have the 'view profile' privilege disabled, to prevent the 'follower' from simply registering under an AE and accessing the profile through that.

On the issue of do the team respond to emails concerning individuals. Yes to an extend, that is what abuse@moneysavingexpert.com is - that is my team to deal with the forum

What we cant do is guarantee to respond to posts on the forum itself - one of my frustrations is occassionally i spot a "why hasn't martin responded" buried on page 14 of a thread on the ninth page of one of the 80 boards!

40 paperback books a day of info are written here, there's no way we can see them all.

Plus of course we will not discuss individual posters in relation to abuse issues in the forum - nor are threads on it permitted.

Yes the abuse team respond to an email report of any possible abuse, most of the time, that goes without question, what i mean is if someone emails a query, regarding themselves,to the abuse team or forum manager, are they likely to reply with an email back to the sender

lots to say in few words as poss. just found & read thread. Great Idea Martin 99.9% agree. BUT.- On joining 2007 I noticed curt people - and was scared to make a mistake then, so this is not new, Took ages to post first comp, a dupe of course, got told, politely but curtly and spent ages deliberating before posting again.I do think its not a bad thing as I watched and read to find out what I should & shouldnt do. No guide available then. so long as its not abuse. Having said that only very recently I have noticed More new MSErs are entering with an attitude and the smallest advice is jumped on as criticism and causes unpleasantness.

The Arms.& Thanks. I hate gratuitous thanks but This place has been a life saver for lots- Comfort, advice, support and absolute friendship has been found in this place and so many inners deserve those thanks. We have laughed and cried together, this support has been invaluable to me and many others. The inners are not out for recognition, they are in the main there when needed for everyone

Martin,if a user emails the webmaster about a decision, are we guaranteed a reply, apart from an automated reply that does'nt really help?

I like the sound of the changes. Cliques often happen on boards but I have never seen the levels of nastiness on this board on any other forum I use. well done for trying to stamp on it.

I must be living in a parallel universe, or I'm too thick to realise when people are being nasty . Where on earth do all these horrid people hang out?

I've only read Martins posts, but I think the ideas about the newbie stuff is great, also the carding system should be piloted but am less sure about this. I think PPRs (what does that actually stand for?!) just sign on with another username alot of the time. Am glad you are trying to address it tho, well done.

I'm the same as you, I usually just watch people having what I think are lively if rather poorly-spelt and unimaginative debates. Then someone closes the thread and says there was too much nastiness! Never quite get it...
