SmileyS posted just a few seconds before I closed the old thread so here is the post:
You should be ok with a few points although they may up the premium. They do take a dim view of lots of points.
I have taken my Tom Tom with me for the last few years (with downloaded S East US maps) and would not be without it. It costs around £35 for the map but can pay for itself in saved fuel and convenience.
Laptop will work fine as the charger should be multi voltage (pays to check) and will find Wi Fi hotspots for the web. You will need a three pin UK to two pin US adapter to charge .;)

I've booked for July and would value some opinions on water parks. We did Wet'n'Wild last time but were a bit disappointed. Any views on Blizzard Beach vs Typhoon Lagoon ?
Can recommend both Disney Water Parks, we prefer Typhoon Lagoon but many prefer Blizzard Beach. Did not like Wet and Wild. Aquatica is ok but do like the Disney Water Parks more!

I would echo that - saved a fortune on toll roads by taking my Tom Tom with me- used wifi on iPhone to find me attractions/restaurants/shops etc closest to me (make sure hotel offers free wi-fi!) & then plugged in address into TomTom - never paid a toll the whole 2 weeks I was there & didn't get lost either :)
  • Hi

Am new to this thread, but am planning once in lifetime trip to disney next year with our three children (10,7 and 4) , and have started looking at all different accomodation etc.

We are looking to hire a villa, close to all the parks, but there are so many to choose from and I was wondering whether anyone had any tips on how to get starting in choosing a community and/or villa?

    Thanks for your help!

You probably can't do enough research. I would suggest going to a site like The Dibb as you can quickly navigate your way through whats useful or not

Hi Jess . Although very helpful at times the Dibb is very big and can be confusing. It is a good place to start looking for your villa.
May I suggest you go to page one of this thread and look at some of the links. 5 minutes trawling on here can save you hours in Orlando where time is precious!
Come on here and ask some specific questions.
We get the flight first and then we start with these--
http://www.lastminutevillas.net/ for the villa just pump in what you want and the villa owners contact you.
http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/ trawl through other sites but always come back to these to use their price promise and they normally give you something extra.
http://www.usrentacar.co.uk/ because these usually have good offers with Budget cars having a free upgrade and their prices very competative.
Good hunting and hope this helps.

    Would definetly reccomend Aquatica.
Went there last year and found it by far the best (and newest) of the waterparks.
Make sure you take flip flops or something similar as the concrete paths there can almost burn your feet in the blazing sun!

I concur on Aquatica, it has a good theme and good places to "chill out" and reasonable eating areas.

Defo worth a trip especially if part of your ticket deal
  • Probably in the anticipation that Harry Potter World might actually open sometime before 2015!! They have said Spring 2010 (end of May) by email but someone told me that the banner in the park says 'Summer 2010' last month and that scaffolding is still up.

We have held off on booking as we want to visit HPW. I've told the kids October but a niggle in me says it will not be open by then. It was supposed to be October 2009.

HPW will be open in June, heard from a decent source in Orlando.

Thanks. It was supposed to be May - we shall see. I've been told the sigh says 'Summer 10' (which June is) but I got an email update in December saying Spring 2010. Virgin has a lot of breaks focued on HPW opening - free tickets to Universal if you stay in certain hotels and the like.
