It's incredible isn't it?! The closest normally being Main St USA when it snows at Mickey's Merry Xmas Party

Stayed for several Xmas's! Never been the same twice we have had it cold, wet and very warm but being married to a mousemaniac worth every penny of it.
One thing that always amused me [does not take much] was the way locals would be out every night putting blankets on their plants, at the first sign of a frost. The blankets would be stolen in this country. But the gardens were very colourful!
Twice we have been for hurricanes and still went swimming in the pool the next day. Even when at night there was two foot of snow [hailstones] up the palm trees. Have old 8mm film of that, which really pleased H.I. as the hailstones hurt whilst i was filming.
Everyone who has been several times will have a horror story, goodness we have even had two earthquakes in Folkestone!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
This amused me too! I have some funny photos of All Star Movies suitably decked in blankets, and my favourite memory of the trip being sat at the pool bar drinking a cocktail, wrapped in coat, scarf and gloves! One thing that always amused me [does not take much] was the way locals would be out every night putting blankets on their plants, at the first sign of a frost. Yes thats a Brits never say die attitude 'I am on holiday I will enjoy myself!!' Many a time i have been sat around the villa pool---with a couple of blankets over my swimwear!! But of course with a drink in hand!! You look silly doing that in a hotel but its acceptable in your own Villa!!!This amused me too! Oh how true!!!
My other one was on Xmas Day 2004 in Sarasota when I was determined to paddle. Unfortunately we awoke to torrential (really, like it is in August normally) but very cold rain. It was very windy, very cold, but I did stick my feet in for a few moments. As, "I am on holiday I will enjoy myself" :rotfl:
I don't think I've ever been so wet as I was on that day!0 -
I've just read another comment about Florida on here and they said it was a bit chilly in November. This sounds so naive but, does the sun go away and hide in Florida in November/December?
Can someone let me know if it is still warm in December with, maybe, just a cardigan needed in the evenings?
Cheers, Birdy
My friend's from Orlando, she's 37. In her lifetime, she reckons it's been warm enough to use the pool on Xmas Day just twice.
Bear in mind they're used to it being hotter than we are.....but it's not blazing beach weather normally.0 -
I have spent many years at xmas in florida and only once had it really cold the rest of the time in the high 70's low 80's. Last year it was around 85 deg xmas day.

Returned from Orlando yesterday. From 28th -31st December the weather was in the 70's and from the 1st January - 9th the temp dropped to the 30's. My OH wanted a woolly hat and the supermarkets had run out of them! There was a severe weather warning and a couple of days before we left, the lowest ever recorded temperature of 27 degrees fahrenheit was recorded in the Keys. It beat the 1897 lowest temp record.
However, we loved the cool temperatures as 10 days out of 12 we were at Disney, Seaworld, Busch Gardens etc. We booked a dolphin swim for the 6th January and when we turned up, the temp wasn't far off freezing! Luckily the lazy river was heated to 85 degrees and we were given wet suits. It felt like getting into a warm bath.
Glad we didnt pay for the pool heating! What I would mention though is that we had beautiful blue skies 10 days out of the 12 and during the middle of the day, it got up to the 60's. We had 2 hours of rain one morning and on and off drizzley rain on Friday just gone.0 -
Worth noting that Universal Studios have increased the price of their 7 day 2 park ticket by 25% overnight. Now sitting at $125. If your going to get Universal tickets I would suggest buying them through the usual agencies sooner rather than later as they still have them at the cheaper price.0

We were there from 13th to 27th December just past. We had heating for the pool but there was only two days that the pool didn't get used. Christmas day was the only day that it rained during the day and we still got into the pool by about 3pm when it had dried up. 1st two days at Blizzard Beach as it was in the 80s.0
