We're hoping to book to go to Florida in the next couple of weeks and are looking to book to go in December as I celebrate, ahem, a certain milestone birthday ;).

I've just read another comment about Florida on here and they said it was a bit chilly in November. This sounds so naive but, does the sun go away and hide in Florida in November/December?

We have been to Florida before, however, it was end August/beginning September and it was boiling (and humid). I would like to go again when it is at least warm.

Can someone let me know if it is still warm in December with, maybe, just a cardigan needed in the evenings?

    Cheers, Birdy

Birdy, we returned from Orlando on Sunday after spending the last 2 weeks there and it was apparently unseasonally cold ! Temp got into the low 70's perhaps 3 days out of 14 the rest were high 50's low 60's although quite pleasant in the sun it was chilly in the shade. Took suncream and didn't use it, didn't take enough cardigans. We had frost on the cars a couple of mornings too. Weather channel said it was probably 10-15 degrees below "normal" temperatures, suppose you never can tell with anywhere.

One point to note it was very very busy, not sure when in December you're thinking of but week after xmas was horrendous

    Hope this helps

I;m in Florida at the moment and it's freeeeezing!! Not quite as bad as at home but definately North Face and Ugg weather!! It got down to about 2 degrees last night. The locals say it usually cools down, but not this much.

If you are coming in the next few weeks bring plenty of warm clothing.

I wouldn't go again in the Christmas holidays, not much went in our favour, seemed to have only bad luck unfortunately, but that's a long story for another day (to say our flight provider let us down badly in the way delays were handled would be the understatement of the decade! Are going to claim compensation so won't say too much yet)
I wore my shorts one day, just to prove I wasn't a total wuss!!
The parks were ridiculously busy, even buying Universal Express Plus passes we were waiting in line for over half an hour for rides.
The pool heating wasn't up to the job of heating the pool to a useable temperature when it was anything less than 70 and sunny outside, so money wasted really.

I'm gutted..... though once the horrible bits die down we'll remember the fun we had screaming our lungs up on Revenge of the Mummy and Expedition Everest.
Time spent in a new place with all that entertainment, and in the company of my wonderful family (who are always a joy) is always time well spent. :T

    Hi
I am looking for some advice, my girlfriend and I are planning on going with some family for a week to Miami in April then heading to Orlando for a second week on our own to do Disney, I have been before when I was a lot younger 15 years ago! My question is if people think it would be better to rent a villa for the week or look at a hotel around International drive?
    Any suggestions appreciated!

If there's a big group of you going, I would suggest a villa would be much nicer than several hotel rooms, and the cost divided by all of you would be much less than you might imagine.

The only thing that you might prefer if you stayed on I Drive would be the ability to get around on your own - though if you went for the villa you could hire a car for you and your GF if you are drivers?

I would not recommend a villa if none of you had a car.
