Hi guys (teeth chattering!) Ex Pat Brit here in Orlando - Jan 13th and we are still scrapping ice from the windscreens! Longest cold spell since the 80's.

    L:ast weekend Orlando had SNOW ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Sunshine State my... anyway....

Miami Sunday night was coldest in 40 years (35 degs F). I mooved from Blighty to get away from all that stuff!

Still I suppose we could be like the UK with all that snow.

We're hoping to book to go to Florida in the next couple of weeks and are looking to book to go in December as I celebrate, ahem, a certain milestone birthday ;).

I've just read another comment about Florida on here and they said it was a bit chilly in November. This sounds so naive but, does the sun go away and hide in Florida in November/December?

We have been to Florida before, however, it was end August/beginning September and it was boiling (and humid). I would like to go again when it is at least warm.

Can someone let me know if it is still warm in December with, maybe, just a cardigan needed in the evenings?

    Cheers, Birdy

Ex Hertfordshire - Lived here in Orlando for 9 years - We have a few cold nights, some odd frosts, this year it has dragged on a bit but normally December would be in 50's/60's and highs in the low 70's is not unknown.

    Hi,

does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy the Tickets for Disneyworld and/or Universal Studios?

I remember last time we went over we ordered them and we got each £15 voucher for M&S. Is there any deal going around these days?

I am personally interested in the Dolphin-Swim ticket... is it worth it? I am its about 150 quid... And if it rains, I might not be able to do the swim...

    Thanks

Worth every penny, just remember that no matter what time your swim is booked for, get there early!!! make a full day of it.

I've went to Discovery Cove on 6th January and when we arrived the temperature was about 3 degrees! We sat outside having breakfast (there is no indoor restuarant there) dress in fleeces and coats around patio heaters. We were a bit concerned that it would be too cold, but with the wet suits on, it was absolutely fine. We did all the disney parks etc but this was definately the highlight of our holiday. We purchased tickets online at attraction tickets direct and I think got an excellent deal. We got a day in Disc Cove and then unlimited access for 14 days to Seaworld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens. The total for a non dolphin swim for this "ultimate package" was £114 and the £174 with a dolphin swim. The breakfast and lunch were included at Disc Cove.

After the dolphin swim, the whole family spent 2 hours in the lazy river which is heated to 85 degrees F. You are given snorkels and goggles to use, towels and even sun cream. The lazy river mianders through an aviary with exotic birds.

There is also a lagoon with tropical fish and rays which is slightly cooler and I thought this was excellent.

Once we were dressed, we then had a walk through the aviary where you are given food containers. The birds swoop down onto you to get the food.

I would definately recommend you booking this and will go to DC when I next go to Orlando. The air temp did warm up to about 60 degrees that day which wasn't too bad but it would be much better if it was a hot day. Not sure what happens if it rains.

I live in Orlando, not actually got round to Discovery Cove but have had family from UK go there and all loved it and said they would pay again.

(Point of interest) Why might you not be able to do the swim if it is raining? Are you scared to get wet? You will be in water rain or shine!

I have been reading somewhere, that if its raining, you wont be able to do the swim. Cant remember when and where :o

Another question, just be sure: Any issues in regards to usual Credit Cards like Mastercard, Barclay etc? I should be able to use them, shouldnt I?
