So its more then likely sounding like i should just accept the claim
If you are really worried that they have ripped you off you could perhaps get them to state to you in a letter that this redress has put you back into the position as if you never had the PPI in the firstplace (like the ombudsman would do) and includes 8% statutory interest too and that if in the future you find out this has not then you would be entitled to make a complaint to FOS. It may make them recalculate it and then put your mind at rest until you get the agreement from them.

Something like, Di anything you want to add

    Dear Sir/Madam

    5th August 2009

    Acc number XXXXXXXX

In regards of your offer on the letter dated XX/XX/XXXX , I feel this is far too low, and as I still believe the Payment Protection Insurance policy was mis sold to me, I stand by my reasons as on my letter sent to you dated XX/XX/XXXX, and would like you to reconsider to refund me the full amount of the PPI, and interest, also the 8% interest of what a court would award.

Can you state in a letter that this redress has put me back into the position as if i'd never had the PPI in the firstplace (and includes 8% statutory interest too. If in the future I find out this has not then I would be entitled to make a complaint to FOS.

However, if you could consider at least a more of a reasonable amount which is as close as possible of the PPI I have paid into the loan account which was settled earlier than expected, I may consider the amount.

If your unable to provide me with the above as requested, I will ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to investigate this matter - to include my evidence and all copies of correspondence in relation to this complaint.

I look forward to hearing from you by 7 days from the date on this letter.

    Yours sincerely

No Kev, they cannot do that. That would be a complaint for not treating you fairly.
