I may be wrong here, but it may be a offer of goodwill, as soon as you receive your calculations, post them up and they will be looked at for you, if anything is amiss, as there is also interest to reclaim as well, then you can write back if you want to and tell them you want the "whole lot back with the interest and also request for the 8% interest on top for what a court would award.
And if they do not do this, you can take to the FOS.;)

Yeah I will Di, best waiting until I get in from work, the suspence is killing me lol. Does it matter that both loans were settled eary?

I will need you help in what to put in the 2nd letter later this evening if you dont mine Di.

Main worry I have at the min is I dont accept the offer and they refuse, so am left with nothing.

    Hi Kev

I bet the suspense is so frustrating I can imagine....., good luck for when you get home.

And yes I will do my best to help you in the 2nd letter, there is also a template for this as well on the loans reclaim insurance site, but I agree it's better to write in your own words, so not a problem.;)

It does not matter if both loans were settled early.

Kev if they refuse later on then you always have the FOS and if this is the case try to put in for an extra payment as well for all the distress they have caused.;)

Kev this letter you want sent in, is this the one on refusal and to ask them to consider for more?;)

    Dear Sir/Madam

    5th August 2009

    Acc number XXXXXXXX

In regards of your offer on the letter dated XX/XX/XXXX , I feel this is far too low, and as I still believe the Payment Protection Insurance policy was mis sold to me, I stand by my reasons as on my letter sent to you dated XX/XX/XXXX, and would like you to reconsider to refund me the full amount of the PPI, and interest, also the 8% interest of what a court would award.

However, if you could consider at least a more of a reasonable amount which is as close as possible of the PPI I have paid into the loan account which was settled earlier than expected, I may consider the amount.

If your unable to provide me with the above as requested, I will ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to investigate this matter - to include my evidence and all copies of correspondence in relation to this complaint.

I look forward to hearing from you by 7 days from the date on this letter.

    Yours sincerely

    Name
    .................................................................................................

That is an example if this is what you are looking for Kev, otherwise let me know.;)
