Hi all,
Just wondered if any of you had considered egg-sharing as a way to decrease the costs of IVF etc? I know it's not for everyone and there are quite specific criteria you have to fit into, but I looked into it in one of my many panic attacks and it reduces the cost of full blown IVF to £950 at a local clinic of mine. That includes everything.
From what I gather, when the eggs are harvested, half of the number they get are donated. You are entitled to find out whether your eggs are used, and if any children (including their sex) are born. Any children born are entitled to find our who you are after reaching 18.
You probably already know far more about it than me, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Tea - one thing that WFI (Womb for Improvement) did, was to ask for a month off unpaid when she had her last IVF. I'm not saying that's right or possible for everyone, but it might take some of the stress off if you can do that in advance of the cycle progressing, and give your shot the best possible chance of success..?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

Hi All
I have only just found this thread, wish i had found it a few years ago. Me and my husband had been trying for a baby for 3 years with no luck at all, the doctors put it down to unexplained infertility and we had 1 cycle of nhs funded ivf back in July which unfortunatley failed. We went away on holiday a few weeks later to try and get over everything that had happened and actually conceived naturally whilst away. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and due on our 4th wedding anniversary, which will be 4 years to the day since we started trying. Im not trying to rub anyones face in the fact that i am having a baby, i just wanted to let those of you know in the same boat as us that there is light at the end of the tunnel and i hope my little story gives some of you that bit of extra hope. :smileyhea

Well, it doesn't give me any hope, having no fallopian tubes and 9 failed IVF's under my belt in 11 years ttc. And I've not long had my 4 year wedding Anniversary.
Hopefully someone else will find it helpful.2 angels in heaven :A0 -

The only thing that kept me going through the pain of infertility and subsequent IVF's was hope.
At times it can seem like it will never happen, and unfortunately for some it may not,but none of us would ever put ourselves through the physical and emotional turmoil that fertility treatment brings without the hope that one day we'll be one of the lucky ones and sometimes that's the only thing that keeps us going....................0 -
