BZ - hopefully you get a good counsellor this time. I appreciate consultants, doctors, counsellors etc are busy and see lots of people, but you expect some continuity and competence. How is it any good if you have to repeat your 'story' everytime you see someone, especially if it is a distressing story, which if you are seeing a counsellor it is likely to be.
Tealover - it is a personal choice but i guess knowing if there are any issues with your OH SA outweighs the use of Clomid, if you get another few months down the line and the meds were never going to help because of the SA then you'll be glad you went with the SA, all for missing one month of trying. (think i've confused myself there)
Primmer - good news about the down reg, have you injected before?SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
Makes perfect sense Tea. I didn't know how much of a delay it might cause for you - I'm sure DH's was done in weeks rather than months, so I'm sure it's all the more frustrating for you.
Primmer, good luck with the injections! I think those and egg collection concern me the most about IVF
Thanks ladies"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
TTC40 - hope you and OH found a useful way to spend the bank holiday
AFM - follicle tracking scan #4 yesterday. Have one follicle at just over 18mm now so they think I'll ov in the next couple of days... which is absolutely typical as OH has SA on thursday so no BD allowed! We DTD last night, and now we have to wait till after the test so fingers crossed I ov today. I've got another scan on thursday to see if anything's happened.
Really hope the results of this SA are better than the first one.
Thanks. After smiley on OPK on Sat am we managed to DTD Sat/ Sun/ Mon. It would be really 'inconvenient' if successful this month as we are going away with friends which would mean I would have to tell them - so let's hope that tempts fate enough!
Know what you mean about timing of tests. I found when having/ waiting for tests it was so frustrating that even delaying something by a week could mean another cycle gone - so frustrating. Tell him to get ready to BD as soon as you are home from SA!
A new counsellor sounds like a good idea BZ.0 -
ETO - no not injected before, feel quite nervous about it but sure it will be fine once I have done it first time.0

Good luck Primmer with injections, tips, scratch before you inject or use ice or pinch/slap the skin, always helped me. After the first few you get kinda use to it.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0

Good luck Primmer.. Think my best tip would be to take your time.. My belly was the best place for me *cough* can't think why
The needles are pretty small, and honestly don't hurt.
When people show you who they are, believe them the first time0 -
Good luck with the injections Primmer. You do get used to it. Although the first few are the hardest. As a nurse I've injected others, never myself until treatment. Some days I got myself worked up because i would hesitate as I was about to jab, not recommended.
I used the top of my leg. And pinched then jabbed in like a dart, but you'll find what works best for you. I still managed to get an odd bruise though.

Good luck in your 2ww TTC40 - how long did they want you to go back in, if you had no luck? Was it because of your age that they were suggesting that, or because of wanting to make sure your tubes remained clear? Also, regarding your lap to unblock your tubes, did they say they only found endometriosis in/around the tubes, or did they find it elsewhere in your pelvic cavity too? How long was your surgery? Sorry for all the questions, all at once, I kept forgetting to ask
AFM: less than a week now, til I find out what options they're (initially) suggesting, and when (presumably) surgery might take place.!I'm assuming there'll be a waiting list taking it closer to christmas, tbh - now I've got my head round that possibility I feel like it's almost a positive, as I could potentially lose the rest of the weight I need to (to be eligible for ivf) by then... (I've now lost a total of 60lbs!:D) Having said that, Sod's Law dictates I'll be completely thrown by them wanting to do it in the next week, or something!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

The FS said to go back in a few months if not pg & he would give me fertility drugs. Yes it's because of my age that he doesn't want to leave it too long.
We said that IVF is an unlikely option for us. We are not eligible for any NHS treatment (due to age). We are in a fortunate position that we could afford to pay if we really wanted it but I just don't think it's a struggle we want to do with low chances of success. We had planned our life without a child, we would see having one as a bonus.
He only mentioned endo in my tubes. He said that he managed to clear them with the flush on the second attempt.
I think the surgery was about 45mins. I was home about 6 hours after surgery. Was bloated/ tender for a couple of weeks after but only took a few days to get back to general mobility.
The scar is tiny. One incision was in my belly button & the other is about 1cm long inbetween the belly button & pelvic area.
Although I did have it private, I was on the NHS list. I know each area was different but from what I recall I was told it would be about 4 months (which would have been about now but I would have had to delay it due to a holiday). In reality they called in 2 months (just as I had booked in privately).
Beneden paid for mine.
