Cograts C4B - good to read some good news for a change!

I'd be interested to know if anyone here has considered/tried Duofertility? We bought it (£500! ouch) whilst waiting to see if we were candidates for the moneyback guarantee (don't know if anyone knows anything about it?) Of course we're not eligible for the mbg due to DH's SA results and were going to send it back, but we've pretty much decided to hang on to it now anyway as it's something else to try for the year whilst we save for a round of ICSI.

Looooooong rambling post, sorry. It feels good to be back. The last few months have been very dark for hubby and I, and I didn't feel able to come in here.

    SK x

I can't blame you for being gloomy, it's so hard. I have thought about the DuoFertility (I suspect only fertile couples are eligible for the moneyback guarantee!!) but haven't gone any further than thinking. Can't decide if there's any point or not..

    Who knows..

hi all, so sorry about your tactless friends juju, i have two close friends i chat to about everything and mother, mother-in-law i even chat to my old boss and his wife who are both in their 70's and rather intruged with the whole process :o i'm lucky they are all supportive, i think it does help to talk, so maybe a councellor would help if others are tactless, i hope your blood tests today can give you some positive results ((((hugs))))

sarah, that sounds very positive, fingers crossed it works :)

QQuaver good luck with this cycle, i have been given some testestrogen gel to rub in my arm this time, which is new to me, but the docs seem to think it's needed, they have said it will make my hair greasy and give me spots, something to look forward to, as i'm starting it tomorrow :D

chickpea, sorry this cycle hasn't worked (((hugs)))

(((hugs))) to all who need them :)

well we have had a nice weekend away, so i am calm and relaxed, i am starting some tablets and the gel tomorrow, had the drug delivery last week, bank balance is now lighter to the tune of £1200 and fridge is very full , i stop the tablets on the 5th, carry on with the gel, scan on the 9th, much bigger dose of drugs then and hopefully EC on the 23rd, a lot different than last time, i'm feeling positive at the moment :)

Could not believe it when my mum said.. Not sure how I feel tbh .. neither where 'planned' apparently which made me feel a bit sick inside considering all DH and I are going through..

I guess it's safe to assume none of them actually do anything useful. And if they do do anything, it might do more harm than good, esp while under medical supervision.
    My thinking exactly:o
Good luck with this round of EC QQ - it must be your time soon..It MUST be!

Good luck, my egg collection will be at least a week later than yours if all goes well. I'm at CD4 today.

    I'm on 25mg femara/day for CD3-5 and probably 1/4 clomid/day from CD8 onwards.

    Good morning everyone,

Hugs to Chickpea-did you treat yourself to something to cheer yourself up?

Murray-I know what you mean about poor timing. The last three months have been a nightmare-OH has had two SA at the 'wrong' time of the month, then I had my HSG and OV's immediately after. I keep telling myself the tests are worth it and there's always next month!

Jujugaboo-that sounds awful. How does his mind work? He has a go at you when you are out about not going out enough? As if that will help. I always get amused at peoples unsolicited 'advice'. Like my sister (now 4 months pregnant) who in her wisdom told me to keep trying. Oh right...that's clearly where I'm going wrong. I thought I could stop trying and still fall PG LOL!

So, as for me, we met with our FS yesterday. He seems a decent enough guy although he did annoy me when he answered his mobile in the middle of our appointment.

He said we are both normal (debatable LOL!) and that it's the good old unexplained infertility. OH's motility is a little low, but he's got plenty of them which make up for it. He's put me on Clomid for the next 3 months, then it's IUI then IVF. I don't think Clomid will do much as I'm already apparently ovulating but I guess it's just the process they have to follow.

I feel a bit in limbo still. In a way I wish they had found something-then I can deal with it. Being like this just feels like more of the same.

Still, we've got our next appointment booked for when we come back off holiday in June. Fingers crossed I get to cancel it?
  • Hi Countrybum yes Im still lurking! I did use Sheffield Care and Dr Shaker is absolutely lovely. I dont know if you have been to one of their information evenings but we did a few weeks before our initial appointment and although I knew everything he was talking about because of talking to people online and researching, my OH came out gobsmacked at all the new info he had picked up. Even though I had told him all of it before (in one ear and out the other) :rotfl:

My first appointment feels like years ago! We werent there very long and he just went through my notes with me and told me what treatment would be best for us. Then he told me to go to ring back on a certain cycle day (cant remember which) to arrange to go in for blood tests and scan.

Sorry, thats not very helpful is it :o

All I remember is walking back to the car feeling very excited that we were starting at last. It was the best feeling knowing that after such a long time waiting, we were making progress.

I hope your appointment is speedy!

Hope everyone else is ok xx

thanks C4B, I'll look into the patient info evenings. Do you remember how long it was from sending the paperwork back to getting your appointment through? I'm feeling very impatient!!!

Hello everyone - AF has arrived, at least the early spotting/BFNs give you a chance to get used to the idea of failure, again! So this cycle lasted all of 25 days before AF kicked in - the drugs are definitely messing things around.

Derby - no real pity party this month. I do have a fabulous new hairdo as of this afternoon, and that cost £100 so that's probably enough gratuitous spending for one month..especially since I have just posted off the £800 cheque for the last cycle..!

    ++++

Runnerduck - spots and greasy hair, eh? Sounds like any other day (pre-my new do!) for me. Bet it won't be all that bad really! (I'm just saying that to make you feel better..!)
