Hi FE! Nice to see you here!
Yes, I found some infor on IVF eligibility awhile ago, so here it is again (just copied from the old post #257:
Feeling better today. I can swear I felt the follicle burst yesterday! I still have some pain, but it is much less than before the burst!
.
Thanks for posting this again ...although it made me cry, but that's not your fault!:D I live in Somerset, where they apparently don't offer if DH smokes. Neighbouring PCTs (one where I actually see my consultant as it's an outpatient dept from my main hospital) actually do. Now thinking I need to move! (or maybe as I see consultant in other PCT I am still eligible) Not sure I can wait til next appointment in Dec to find out
Edit: Just found the actual doc on Somerset PCT. says that if a partner smokes they'll be referred to smoking cessation ... just wondering if anyone has experience of how long he needs to have stopped for ....2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.

Make him give up NOW! It will help his sperm and will make his sex drive higher (so the old wives' tales go!). Do you think that argument would sway him?!
I don't know about your PCT, but as a sensible guess I would think just being able to honestly say you've given up would be a big tick, yes?
Aw, best of luck whatever, x0 -
Thanks ... he knows he should give up but he's still struggling with his weight which has more affect on his health than his sperm, so I can't push too much.... he's scared if he stops smoking he'll eat more. sometimes I think I forget about how hard it is for him ...... bless he's been virtually caffeine free for a year and had his alcohol intake severely cut .....he does try and he's gonna be seriously upset if the only reason we can't get treatment is to do with this. He's already blaming himself ...2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.

Poor thing, I sympathise. My OH is 'morbidly obese' according to the GP and being treated for depression, so getting him to give up was a struggle, but he is so proud of himself now that he has! He hasn't gained any more weight - if anything, he is eating more healthily and has lost a little - better than nothing! So best of luck to him and I really do understand both sides on the story! It is hard to be supportive 100% of the time when sometimes I think he should be doing more, but being a man they can only do so much at once!!0

Wow cedrickerry that is harsh... i have never heard that, my dh smokes more than he should  and the more u go on on at them to stop the more they wont!!! (learnt that one) We are in devon so fairly close!
I think he is slowly excepting that he really needs to stop, since havin the puppy he smokes outside, we only ever smoked in the kitchen anyway! So fingers crossed.
Bit of a dull day here but goin out for lunch with the family and my mums new boyfriend  he he,its nice to see her smilin again0 -
Ok, my OH I think is also classed as morbidly obese by NHS. He knows he needs to lose the weight, and he is sort of trying, until he sees food. I think we both have a problem with portion control. To be honest, since we started living together I put on about 20kg. Ok, I managed to keep my weight about the same for the last 2 years, with a bit up and a bit down, but I need to do much more to go to were I was before him.
On the weekend note - I had a good one, since my piano arrived (although guys forgot to bring the music book - not that I could play anything from it yet!). So, most of the weekend was spent in front of it trying to play!
And last night I watched a movie - 'Then she found me'. Very odd. About 39 year old woman, who wants to have a baby. In the end, I think she adopts a Chinese girl, although they do not say that in the movie (unless the sperm donor was Chinese!).Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Feeling better at mo .......we both completed a 25 mile hike for the NSPCC yesterday, so physical pain taking my mind off other stuff! DH lost 3 stone last year, and put a little on over the couse of year .....he's going to start again tomorrow as completing the walk has made him think more positively! (and very annoyingly ...he reckons he's not in pain!) He reckons that when he finished the current smokes he brough back from last weeks hols, he'll give up (and I've not even mentioned the problem yet) fingers crossed X2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.
