Hi all, great to hear how well the ivfs are progressing.

Sorry I havent been around - in deep thought about what to do, really. I cant really afford IVF, but dont know whether I can let it go iyswim. Dont really want to pull the thread down, but am feeling really down about it all.

Gin, congrats on your EC! 10 eggs are fantastic:j
Countrybum, good luck with Clomid. Good thing about IVF is that you may get to hold your baby sooner:o It is hard to do, if you hate injections etc, but it's only a month or so to bear.

Your DH's motility doesn't sound so good:(
I am due to start my Buserelin injections tomorrow.
Has anyone any tips or advice they can give me or info on what to excpect ?
I'd try to drink a lot of fluid:)
    Good luck:wave:

I agree with QQ drink lots of water. If your not good with needles scratch or smack the area to numb it first. Some people suffer with side effects but I usually fine, night sweats is a common one.

  • QQ I know what you mean about DHs motility, but his first sample was 70% rapid - I don't understand why there is such a difference?

I hope you don't mind me popping my head in to say hi again and let you know whats going on and get a bit of advice. I've been back to the fertility clinic today to have the dildo cam and get the results of all my tests. The doc seems to 'think' I'm ovulating but the reults were borderline. They also got the tests mixed up and didn't do the CD2 LSH and FSH!!! My DHs second SA was ok - much better numbers (30million) but motility was low (13% rapid). HSG and scan of ovaries were fine. Doc then said, well I can refer you for IVF straight away!! WHAT??? I was pretty shocked as he was so matter of fact about it. Basically said not point in IUI due to costs so can have two rounds of IVF on NHS. Also mentioned Clomid and asked what I wanted to do? IVF hasn't really crossed my mind, I just presumed we'd get there on our own. The doc has given me Clomid for 4 months and see how I go, re-asses then and possibly IVF.
I know I'm waffling, sorry, just feels better getting it down in writing. What I'm trying to get around to saying is I don't really know much about IVF - I presume some of you lovelies are undergoing it, but can't really follow the gist of this thread!!! What are your experiences, thoughts and feelings about it?
    Again, sorry for waffling!!
Hope your journies along this tricky road are going well
    xx

Hi Countrybum...im at work so not had chance to read your history

i too had my appointment last week and was told to take clomid for 3 months and come back in 4 but my doctor start clomid then it will be IVF but my OH's SA count is 99million which is excellent but his mobility is 6% which is fine for his count...anyway this came as a shock to me too i thought if anything IUI would be first HONESTLY tho i really DONT want IVF BUT if its a chance then id take it

if i was you which im not i would try the clomid for 4 cycles then if nothing happens decide then..2 rounds on IVF is good we wont qualify i dont think cos my OH already has a teenager so i need to start saving!

From what I remember, his count was on the low side 13million (I think - will have to check when I get home) but high motility. This time, higher count but low motility!!!

    13 million is about a 1/3 of 30 million, so 1/3 of 70% is 23%.

Percentages has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Volume matters too.
13 million/ml but if the volume was 5ml then that would be more than 1ml of 30 million/ml IYKWIM (math was never my strong point:o).

    And there's morphologies:whistle:
