Welcome CCM, hope the chocolate Brazils help, just by OH taking vitamins and cutting out alcohol and smoking can really help. I don't know much else as OH has 1.9 million sperm and poor motility which is bad thats why we are having ICSI.

Jibs, glad everything is going well and you are a fertile person just look at that belly.

  • Thanks for the welcome.

My OH rarely drinks and doesn't smoke but he is very stubborn when it comes to taking vitamins. Jujugaboo - To say I have to nag is an understatement but I'm hanging in there. I might have to resort to crushing up pills and hiding in his food - but thats all a bit too Brookside for my liking.

Qquaver - I am armed with pads, paracetamols, antibiotics and a suppository. And the next few hours I will be administering and inserting various drugs at my workplace and then rattling along to the hospital.

I am such a novice at this posting - I have just been trying to figure out how to quote in a reply. And still nonethewiser...Will have to practice this afternoon

:wave:Chocolate Cookie Monster, welcome to the board. Hope today goes ok for you . It sounds like you're at a very similar stage to me, we also started TTC in Sept 09 and had the blood tests in Oct/Nov 10. I was meant to be having HSG this week or next but they found a large cyst on one of my ovaries when I had the scan (they thought it was my bladder ) so I'm having a GA to have that removed and having the HSG or something similar at the same time. Still waiting for the appointment date .

Fingers crossed all will be well after our tubes have had a bit of a clear out! Good luck :)

I know exactly where Jiblets is coming from. At the end of the day, being pg after overcoming infertility is not the same as being pg is for a fertile person.

    I mean, I have a child, a 2 yr old.

Am I fertile? Most people would see us together and reckon I was.

Well, I was for one cycle back in June 2008. But I wasn't fertile for every other cycle between Mar 2005-May 2008 (about 40 cycles?)

Since Sept 09 I have been trying to repeat the miracle. Nothing so far and we most be on cycle 20 by now.

So 60 cycles, and we have only conceived once (and I thank God every day) despite 'doing everything right'.

    So am I fertile?

Sorry to hear about your cyst Murray. It must be very frustrating having to wait for the 2 procedures. I was lucky getting my appt quickly. They only do 4 a week and you have to phone on the first day of your cycle and hope there is a space. I am CD 11 now and the nurse nearly turned me away this afternoon as its late in my cycle:eek: My tubes were fine. I had to wriggle a lot on the table to get the dye to the left tube and had a change of catheter midway through. So I found it quite painful and very uncomfortable.

Chickpea - sorry I haven't read back but do you have any diagnosis for your (in)fertility?

I think for people such as you and me there's a grey area. I've been pregnant four times and have a child, plus I get pregnant at the drop of a hat (usually - just not at the moment, grrrrrr). But I can't hold on to them. So I'm sort of fertile, and sort of not. Perhaps we are 'fertilitarily'-challenged?:rotfl:

When you say you weren't fertile in those 60 cycles though, what you mean is (presumably) that you didn't conceive. Perhaps on some of them the timing was off, or the sperm was wonky, or something like that. Doesn't mean you weren't fertile.

Are you like me, constantly clinging to the fact that you have a child to 'prove' that you can do it? It's such a weird situation to be in. My boy's 6 now and when I say that we want to have another one, people look at him, look at the lines on my ageing face and you can see them thinking, well what the hell is she waiting for??! If only they knew...

I have 3 children, and one was unplanned :o and I am still infertile, in my own mind and in reality. Medically both OH and I have fertility issues, and the two which were planned took 6 years (and IUI) and 2 years respectively to conceive. I've been told at two different points in my life that I can only conceive via IVF, yet have two naturally conceived ones.

It is a feeling which never really leaves you, no matter how the journey pans out.

Still reading regularly and thinking if you all.

  • QQuaver - or anyone else that had the HSG - did you have a lot of spotting/discharge after the test? Its been 24 hours now... I wasn't expecting this much (and they didn't say anything at the clinic)

I feel like I ran a marathon yesterday carrying some very heavy bags on my shoulders.I think that I may be out for the cycle as I have some CM in the discharge but I am not letting OH near me for now.

I had brown discharge for a while, can't remember for how long, but my cm remained brownish for a long time. I had my HSG back in Nov (4th).

Didn't have any spotting though. I can't remember how long I wore a pad, but probably for that day only.
