I know. I read all the progesterone stuff too, and I know they've routinely given it to women since the 60s or earlier, especially in the states. The problem is apparently that there has never been a definitive study done to show that it works. It's impossible to show from circumstantial evidence because often women who miscarry will go on to have a healthy baby at some point anyway, and if they happen to have been taking progesterone at the time it is natural to assume it must have been that, whereas it may just have been luck. I did push the idea with him but at some point I guess I have to trust him as St Mary's is leading the way on this research.

With regards to the egg implanting/uterus lining breaking down I've always had very early +ve results - usually day 9, so I'd thought that wasn't a problem. Something to remember to ask at my next appt though.

It is so hard isn't it Sarah when you want to do everything you can and just get some answers and there's a whole world of conflicting opinions.
I hope they are able to give you some answers and that they give you the strength to be brave and try again. Good luck.

  • Hello ladies!

I think that I have mentioned it before, but the reason I'm testing 13dpo is that I want to take part in a trial called "Duration Of Lutal Support" (DOLS). Its a pretty major trial which involves taking progesterone for a further 10 weeks (Or it could be a placebo) to see if that extra support improves the number of live births following a BFP. The Liverpool Womens hospital routinely give 2 weeks of progesterone pessaries following ET.

So whilst it remains unclinically proven at the moment, I'm sure that they are not going to all this expense and effort with hundreds of women just to rule it out, so they must believe that there could be something there worth investigating.

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I had quite bad side effects from the progesterone they gave me after the ICSI (which I would have taken up to 10 weeks had my pregnancy stayed - I had a chem pg). I am still suffering now from the side effects - the only ones I got during the whole process.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Yes, that's the trial I was mentioning - it's a country-wide thing to get as much data as possible. Hope it works for you.

Hi all. I've gt my appointment with the counsellor! This Thursday evening, and she says she usually only works after 6, which makes things easy to see her when I'm back at work (next week). The main clinic desk rang me yesterday saying they weren't sure if she was on annual leave, but would send my referral over to her again, and lo and behold I get a phone call today and an appointment for two days away.
I'm starting to wonder if the clinic is not very good for passing on the referrals they say they will, and they didn't actually send over the first referral (like they didn't send over my op referral). Next time they tell us they're going to do something, we'll make sure to remember to ask how long we can expect to wait to hear from them, and then start chasing up the appointment sooner rather than later...

Really pleased to have the appointment now though. Ooh, and I had a pamper day with Mam today, things are looking brighter.

I used to lurk around on the thread but never post as I'd been told that I was infertile after major complications/surgery with my daughter who is now 3.5y. Anyway after deciding that we may as well have some fun (TMI) we did not restrict "activities". Got married three months ago, sold all baby stuff.... felt sick at the weekend and high temperature.

Monday morning drag partner around every Tescos on the A11 as we kept arriving before opening hours... Buy digital tests... Toilet... Shove in bag and run out of store to car to be on time for work.... Check test on way out of car park.... PREGNANT 2-3 I waited for the word NOT to appear as I had not read the instructions but four tests on all say the same thing

I'm scared to death because I had severe post natal depression and anxiety the first time and also have Crohn's disease.
Trying to earn £2015 in 2015. Slightly early start ;). £175.88 today.

congrats rosie! Don't forget there's a pregnancy thread here on mse. They may be better placed to discuss the possibility of post natal depression and the chron's. A great many of us here have no pregnancy experience with which to help you. A close friend of mine has 2 children with her Chron's though, and she and the 2 babies were mine with some monitoring I think. Best of luck with it all. :D

ha ha I just realised. Those babies weren't mine of course, they were fine. Oops. :rofl

Ooh, that sounds like a little bit of good news on here! So congrats Rosie, wishing you well and try not to worry too much about the negatives - think of that totally amazing and unexpected positive!

Jiblets - that's great news! Not long now then, look forward to reading how you get on, x

Right ladies, back to dull normality - no news from me, boring boring cycle still ongoing and still awaiting referral. See, told you it was dull!

But I'm also one of those who will try anything if there is even a small chance it will work!
