  • Murray just wanted to give you the other side of the HSG coin - I went in expecting it to be like a smear, I lay on the bed the consultant set about her business and I started a good conversation with the nurse - then all of a sudden I am in agony and I mean agony - I was lifting my legs in the air, screaming for the consultant to stop, 2 seconds later she did. My OH was outside and could hear me screaming ! Both of my tubes were blocked and so she had to keep increasing the pressure on the dye to try and unblock them, it worked ! I went home, had a few cramps but was fine to work at home. Sorry if this scares you but I felt that I was too laid back and that probably made the shock of the pain much worse. Plus OH and I have a really good giggle about it now, particularly the part where the nurse practically jumped on me to hold my legs down :rotfl: !

    Lilo, best of luck :D

Sarahs999 I occassionally get OH to hold my legs up but then we end up giggling so much that I tense up and all his little Mr Men fall out :rotfl:

Hugs to anyone that needs them

I gave up on the legs in the air thing too. Now I just stay in bed and make sure that tissues and knickers are to hand!

Well, I've had my first hospital appointment and they found quite a big cyst on one of my ovaries - they thought it was my bladder . Got to wait to hear from the consultant to see what they want to do with it.

Next step is for an HSG after AF next shows up. Does anyone know about HSG? Is it the same as lap & dye?

I feel much happier to be making some progress, its doing the PMA levels the world of good :)

I had a HSG last year and I too was one of the unlucky ones that it hurt (turns out my left tube is totally blocked!) I would also reccomend taking some painkillers before hand and the day after as the next day I was very sore.
It also was not as scary as I was expecting so don't worry.

  • Hiya,

I'm new to this thread, good luck to everyone ttc. I'm on day 3 of my first round of clomid:eek: having a few sore heads but no other side effects so far.

I had HSG a few months ago and it hurt but I was able to drive myself home my tubes were fine.
I love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters

Hi nichart, I've got 13 weeks left (if she comes on time - and it would be helpful if she did!), due on April 20th. Everything's going well really, though in the last week or so I've had to start really taking it easy cos of pelvic pains. It's not as bad as SPD, but I was in proper pain the one day, so it's take it easy or do myself some damage I think - seems to be ok now.
I've accepted that this is all really happening and am starting to buy things and listen to people with advice to offer and stories to share. I've been walking away up till now, as I just wasn't ready to hear it. I think I'll always be an infertile inside. I constantly think about how my bump is affecting other people, and I can't stand too much baby talk, or too many pg people in one place. Even when I'm one of them. This journey forever alters us...

My god Jibs! 13 weeks? Where did that go??? Fingers crossed for you the next 13 weeks are trouble free and easy as they can be x

AFM, my lap & dye has been cancelled for the second time as, yet again, the surgeon "was no longer available". I got a letter advising my next appointment was 4th April. 6 months after we were told we shouldn't waste any time. I phoned up and moaned a bit and was asked if I wanted to go on the cancellations list  I'd specifically filled that bit in 3 months ago on the pre op information, said I was available at 24 hours notice and even gave the extra phone numbers needed. It was at this point I went ballistic. I did feel sorry for the girl on the phone, she was so apologetic but I was not happy.

They phoned me back 10 minutes later advising they could fit me in on a cancellation on 21st March - one week before the last appointment

Apart from all that, we've not been thinking about TTC. I've resigned myself to it not happening for us, which I think is healthier in the long run. I've turned myself inside out with grief (as i'm sure all of you will understand) over the last 18 months and now i'm at acceptance. I haven't given up, but it's much easier to deal with day to day life without that constant hope and having it dashed every month.

I start my new job week Monday and am really looking forward to that and we're moving soon - we've been given notice on our house as the LL (and my boss!) is selling up. We're going to view a beautifil cottage type house tomorrow with a wood burning stove so that's really exciting.

Oh, and last weekend, we went to my best friends house (you might remember we fell out after she announced she was PG) It's been 6 months, but I think we're sorting it out. She apologised for not handling it well and pushing me, and I apologised for behaving as I did (even though I couldn't do it any other way) I felt him kick which was great (but sad) and hopefully i've got my best friend back. It's going to be hard seeing her with "my" baby but i'm sure we'll get through it.

Whew, long post. Hope everyone else is keeping well and hiya to all the newbies x

Nic, sorry to see you back, but not so sorry in a selfish way (if that makes sense?) I sincerely hope you get a break soon and you get to complete a cycle and of course that it's successful. Everything crossed for you here.

    SK x

Hi SK - lots of changes afoot. You know what they say..new house, new baby...here's hoping!

    ++++

My new nephew is called Patrick - sweet. I'm over my jealousy about that pregnancy now..it's always easier when the babies arrive, at least for me it is. That just leaves the other 8 pg women I know!

I'm trying to be zen this month...just about managing!

Have a good week everyone, and lots of lovely PMA.

    Hugs chickpea.

OK everyone, I need lots of crossed fingers. I have a little feeling that we might have been successful this month but I'm still five days before my AF is due so can't test yet. ITching to though! I have sore (.)(.), much more so than usual, and have a strange, slightly 'hard' feeling in my womb area that I have had before when I've been pregnant.

ALso lots of other little symptoms (terrible spotter that I am!) that are making me more hopeful this month than since we starting trying this last time (I've had one child, in 2005, since then three miscarriages, endless tests, and diagnosed with two blood clotting disorders. I also had severe pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy and DS was born 3 months early, so this has been a very rocky road for us. Plus I lost 4 stone last year to try and improve my chances of conceiving. Oh, and I'm now 40, so a right old knacker :)).

Please can you all cross fingers for me? It's been three years now that we've been trying (on and off, including tests etc). I've ordered some babymad early tests - am an expert at reading the faintest faintest lines so hopefully they will arrive tomorrow and I can test. Citing!

Thank you Jujugaboo. Am trying not to drive myself crazy as I know all too well the comedown can be so hard if it's a BFN.
