Hi all, just popping in from "TFAB III" to post this link:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1204723/New-fertility-gadget-offers-couples-guaranteed-pregnancy-just-year--money-back.html
Looks pretty good, but for £495 I'd expect it to be!0 -
I wonder if free treatment is offered to couples were one has been sterilised?BBC Breakfast are reporting on NHS not meeting fertility (IVF) treatment guidelines. The more publicity the better?
Here is the article:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8185753.stm
From the interview on TV - 'the guidlines are not the rules and the trusts do not have to follow them'... Right...
Apparently, not all primary care trusts have the rule that if one person in the couple have children from earlier, and they have a couple on the sofa, that the primary trust in they area changed their opinion about giving free NHS treatment just as they were going to move to a different primary care trust!
Was just trying to find out what are the rules of my PCT, and (at least in 2007-08) they were offering 2/3 full cycles (not just fresh) for those who have no children from previous relationships and enot been previously sterilised. At least some hope we end up going that way... Couldn't find info on BMI, but the only place I found ages quoted 23 to 39, so I am within that...0 -
I've been quoted 35 for Nottingham BMIwise. Unfortunately I've only managed to get mine down 2 notches.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

A BMI of 35 is the highest any clinic I am aware of will go up to; under that figure the treatment is more likely to work, and pg go to term. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

Hello All, and welcome newbies.
Haven't posted for a while as we have been away. I've got a couple of questions. Where is the cheapest place to buy the clearblue monitor sticks? I've been looking on Ebay.
Also, over the last few weeks I keep getting migranes. I used to get them and was taken off the pill as they felt the hormones were causing them (this was years before ttc). I used to get them when i was really stressed at work but I'm pretty chilled-out at the moment so that's not it. But, I am on my 5th month of clomid and I'm wondering if this is causing them. Any advice would be appreciated.
I too am from the "TFABIII" thread, but I felt I should reply - cbfm sticks are about £12/box on Amazon and free delivery, but I'm not sure how well they work with clomid. I'm sure there's someone who has experience with them both but can't remember who!
Also migraines can be caused by changing oestrogen levels. Classic "menstrual migraine" is at the end of the month (or pill packet) when your oestrogen levels drop sharply. I however get them in the first 1/3 of my cycle when my oestrogen rises, this is not a common time/cause of migraine but it does happen! It could be that as the clomid is messing with your oestrogen levels somehow. No advice on how to treat it as what works for me (paracetamol, sugar and sleep) may not work for you!

I found yesterday a table on the internet saying the criteria. Just went through my history and found it, maybe of some use - not all of them say that previous sterilization is a no-no, but that is a year or 2 old info:
http://www.parliament.uk/deposits/depositedpapers/2008/DEP2008-2501.pdf
Also, today I found this info in guardian with the age limits, BMI, etc:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2009/aug/06/fertility-problems-nhs
Check "DATA: download the full datasheet, with all criteria" for more details.
It seems that my PCT didn't say anything about BMI. They have a rule of 2 years on reliationship/infertility.
Oh, and just found the source of all this:

My brother has recently been told he has zero sperm count, and his GP said there was no hope. However, he hasn't yet seen a urologist so I think his GP was a little premature in his assessment. Is there any hope? From what I have been reading, it could be something like a blockage preventing the sperm getting out - or there could be some hormonal problem. Anyone here know of any similar cases? And any positive outcomes?
Hiya,
When we discovered that my DH has antisperm antibodies, we were told by the consultant about TESE and that it has a pretty good success rate for ICSI.
Luckily (maybe helped by the diet I put him on and all the vits etc that I made him take - LOL!) they managed to find some 'good' swimmers amongst DH's samples, so we didn't need to go that route, but we did meet some people in the support-group who were having TESE and they were very positive about it.
Good luck to your B & SIL,

Good-friend, I hope this diagnosis wasnt given on the basis of just one test - anything could have happened to it. If the sample wasnt tested within the guideline times, the results would be completely wrong. They should ask to be retested, and be referred to the fertility and urology departments to see what can be done. They only need one good sperm, which can be surgically removed if that is necessary to make a baby - so I think it is a little premature of the doctor to write them off altogether. I wonder how many people are given this advice over the years, its quite frightening really.

We were on page 3!!!! Bump bump bump!
I hope everyone is doing well and having a nice weekend. I can't believe I am going back to work tomorrow - don't want at all. Also, it seems like AF will be showing it's appearance tomorrow probably - have been spotting for two days now, and feeling pretty rubbish this evening (sorry, I am complaining again - self pity...). The boobs are a bit sore today as well, and I am just upset that my cycle still playing up with spotting. Today is CD26 and if AF shows up tomorrow, it is another shorter than my usual (used to be) 28 day cycle. I think I may have to ask my consultant about that when I see him, but I expect him to say to give it time after laparoscopy for things to settle down. My belly button wound is still hurting me, I even called hospital on Friday to be told it is normal. I think I am just looking for excuses not to go to work!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Hi Ginvzt, oh no! Back to work, boo! If AF arrives then at least it is on to the next cycle for you, x
Not having a good weekend, feel thoroughly depressed and alone, so silly of me but am having trouble shaking it. Oh well, what can I do at my age? 38 now, still childless and OH who is too busy with work and battling depression to notice me at the moment! Last sperm analysis was just awful, but he has just stuck his head in the sand and I can't say anything right at the moment...
Hoping work will shake me out of it tomorrow!0
