cedrickerry, I still haven't told my boss, even though I am having 2 weeks on sick leave now. He never asked what it is all about, and I just kept it short by saying I am having doctor's appointment, or I am having some tests done (Hycosy - didn't tell him that). Once I knew I need laparoscopy, I told him I will need some minor surgery, which would mean I will be off work for 1-2 weeks. Again, nothing more. I did tell the receptionist (very lovely lady, she is 60 this year, and she is the one I chat most and probably only at work) that they found a cyst and I need to have it drained. Also, I felt I could tell, as she has been through a lot in the last few years (breast cancer, death of her partner an the altes - death of her mum over Christmas) and the work was amazing and gave her loads of time off, and even sent her home on some days.
I know what you mean about being knackered, MadMac! I was chatting with my mum an dad on Skype and jad to say goodbye as I had no strength to think or type!!!!! It is my dad's 55th birthday in couple of weeks and I can't get him to agree what could we get him!!!!

I'm lucky in a way as I'm self-employed, so when I need time off I just fit my work around it. The only real downside is no paid sick leave when I've had hospital stays and so I never recuperate for long as we always need the money to start to come in again! :o

So cedrickerry, I would say just mention t as and when it feels right for you. As it is early days in terms of the next round of appointments, there is no pressure on you to spill now if you don't want to. And in my experience if it is a man boss, just mentioning personal lady issues will have them saying yes, yes to everything just to shut you up! :D

Ginvzt, rest up now and keep drinking!:naughty::naughty::naughty:

    :whistle::whistle:

That is so true!! Makes me smile thinking about how uncomfortable the word 'gynaecology' can make a man! :rotfl:

Welcome to the newbies - glad you have found us!!

Cant add anything to what has already been said, I agree. Bad luck on the shingles ginvzt, I hope you feel better soon.

You do not have to disclose what you are having time off for when it is medical I believe, but as Shelly said, just saying gynae issues will keep most people off your back, and it would take someone extremely hardfaced to keep on asking for information on that one!

Will someone please exterminate all the little biting insects in the world please! I am covered in bites on my legs - and I am supposed to avoid this cos of the lymphodaema! They are SO itchy! They wait until the I forget to use the repellant or it has run out, and get me then. I am sure I go to bed with at least one of the little bar stewards, I seem to wake up with fresh ones every day. They bite me through leggings and tights the little horrors! I think its sweat they are attracted to (wearing that lot is no picnic in this weather let me assure you!)

PS have been topping up on the nice underwear (rather than the greying bridget jones' I have been favouring) to make sure that hubbys healthy exercise gets underway as planned!!! - although had better not combine this with the tights/leggings combo, bit of a turn off that one!

It is just that I am not good at resting. We have a big house and I am loving it and want to keep clean and tidy. And the garden. I was just in the garden picking some sorrel for the soup (I love sorrel soup, but never made it myself, so it is going to be first time), and thought I really should do some weeding - that seems to be growing the best at the moment. Oh, and I need to water my plants..... But I am so tired, I just want to stay on the sofa. But I want to do cleaning and weeding... Oh, I don't know... I am feeling guilty at being lazy, and I can't get over it!

Enjoy your trip and don't let anyone to annoy you. It is your life, not theirs. If your F-I-L starts on about IVF tell him to go and do it himself! (is MIL still around?)

You sound like me, good at telling everyone else to rest but rubbish at it personally! :rotfl:

Yes MIL is still around, she is just overshadowed by her husband.

I think it will be OK.

:naughty: I want to read up next week that you are feeling a lot better - OK?!? :naughty: xx
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

My OH has a double plus as his boss is gay too! So we get the benefit of a completely empathetic, comforting-but-terrified-to-know-the-details boss!:rotfl:

Lilo, I doubt very much he will be complaining when you finally get to it again! My OH prefers me in the buff over anything else so my underwear budget is very MSE :D
  • I am posting on behalf of my brother and sister-in-law, who have been TTC for quite some time now. My brother has recently been told he has zero sperm count, and his GP said there was no hope. However, he hasn't yet seen a urologist so I think his GP was a little premature in his assessment. Is there any hope? From what I have been reading, it could be something like a blockage preventing the sperm getting out - or there could be some hormonal problem. Anyone here know of any similar cases? And any positive outcomes?

BBC Breakfast are reporting on NHS not meeting fertility (IVF) treatment guidelines. The more publicity the better?

    Here is the article:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8185753.stm

From the interview on TV - 'the guidlines are not the rules and the trusts do not have to follow them'... Right...
Apparently, not all primary care trusts have the rule that if one person in the couple have children from earlier, and they have a couple on the sofa, that the primary trust in they area changed their opinion about giving free NHS treatment just as they were going to move to a different primary care trust!

Was just trying to find out what are the rules of my PCT, and (at least in 2007-08) they were offering 2/3 full cycles (not just fresh) for those who have no children from previous relationships and enot been previously sterilised. At least some hope we end up going that way... Couldn't find info on BMI, but the only place I found ages quoted 23 to 39, so I am within that...
