Jiblets, wasn't it you that had PCO not the PCOS?

I've been diagnosed with that too.
I have PCO (ultrasound), but no probs with hormones, thyroid, insulin or weight:o My cycles are irregular, but I do ov about 9 times a year.

Did you find out anything about it? I've been Googling, but is hard to find much about PCO:(

I still get a bit confused about it, to be honest Q, but yes I think that's right. I have one mildly polycystic ovary, I don't get over/underweight particularly or the other symptoms, but I do have really irregular periods. An un-medicated cycle is anywhere between 30 and 60 days.

They didn't do anything for it except monitor me whilst undergoing stimming, but for myself I went on the GI diet. I had read about the PCO messing with your insulin levels, and I always did get really hungry from nowhere, and really moody with hunger (like psychotic) and really weak and tearful.
The GI really sorted this out for me, and I found when I got hungry all that would happen is my belly rumbled, I couldn't eat as much anyway because I got full, and I lost a few pounds to boot. For me the GI diet was really easy too - pitta breads and tortilla wraps and that, so it's worth looking into...
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

    I've never tried it though.

    Hi

Is it too late for me to join in please? If I am the right category.

    A brief history

Been trying 'officialy' for 10 years (will be in October) to have a baby of our own. Met hubby 13 years ago.

Absolutely NO luck at all. After 3 years of trying went to GP who refered us to fertility specialist. Been for fertility tests many years ago, I am clear so is hubby. Went for all the other tests and scans for fertility treatment, tried Clomide (?) tablets 3 times told couldnt try anny more attempts all ready to go ahead with IUI but I broke down in appointment and couldnt go ahead with it, all too much for me. We decided if mother nature wasnt going too let us conceive naturaly then why should we interfear and put chemicals into body.:o

Fast track 4 years and still nothing went back to fertility specialist who was unhappy to allow me to try again as I am too overweight and unless I could drasticaly lose weight over the year he wouldnt even begin to think about helpling anymore! I tried desparately to shed the lbs but it just didnt work :(.

Fasttrack another 3 years and I am even heavier now and no hope of getting fertility, plus I have other medical problems like Diabetes 2, high Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol and AS now.

One thing I did find out is I do not have PCOS and but I do have an odd shaped wombe which has a funny name (like a devils horns) but basicly it is heart shaped which causes problems with attatchment and spae or baby.

We have tried for adoption, but thats a whole new story. Basicaly we didnt even get to complete the application form to apply to adopt as the initial visit by the Social Worker was concerned that all we thought a child required was love. So they didnt bother to update us and after waiting patiently for 9 months and hearing nothing I contacted the authoity who said the file had been closed. When I questioned what that meant it was explained chilren need more than just love to survive. So I said Love is a huge umberella of things and listed the whole spectrum of what a child needs. I also pointed out that if I had a biological child it wouldn't come with a instruction manual but there are many mothers out there who cope.

It sadens me so much we cant have children and there are so many out there (including the shocking stories of abuse and neglect) and we have been told many a time from many sources we would be good parents.

It has been brought to my mind recently also that having no children leaves us all alone in our old age. Whereas my parent/s have me and my brother, my hubbys parents have him and his brother, his brother and sister in law have their son, my brother has his children etc etc etc. Yet we have no one and it saddens me so much

Had an op in December to remove a cyst but didnt need a 'scrape'. Am way overweight but it just doesnt want to come off just go on. Dr told me its the medications and not to stress over it. I am almost 40 and I just feel time is running out.

Sorry to offload and thanks in advance for any help but I really dont know what to do next.:(

Good luck to everyone hope you find some sticky babydust!

Huge hugs crisp £ note, sounds like you have been through the wringer over the last 10 years. I think it is called a bicornate womb, my friend has the same. She has had fertility problems, but has 2 happy healthy children, so it is not impossible.

I dont really know what to suggest, your fertility people seem less than helpful. Certainly being overweight doesnt help, but again there are many overweight people who successfully fall pregnant. Have you tried all the vitamin supplements etc that are recommended? I know that a high protein/low carb diet is successful in weight loss, as it keeps the insulin levels regular, which may help you in a couple of areas. Other than that, google soya isoflavones - we talked about them a couple of pages ago, and I have been taking them for a couple of months - they are supposed to increase the eggs, or improve the quality depending on which days you take them.

Carry on posting, we will help you where we can, and happily provide general support and chatting as required! (Oh and Im 41 so dont worry about age!!!)

Hi thanks for the welcome and I think it was tri-cornate sounds about right.
I forgot to mention that I lost 2 years of being able to try as constantly was on TOM for one then constantly off for the other! No sign of pregnancy or reason why. Last diagnosis form Gaenacologist (fertility specialist?) was I just fall into the small % of people where there is no reason why we / I cannot conceive.

They are now warning me due to my conditions and height at 4ft 11" and weight and age it woulld be a very difficult pregnancy if I could manage anywhere near full term. So hubby and I have kind of decided to give up (or at least forget about trying). We were going to look at adoption or fostering but we are quite nervouse given our past experience and I am looking for all the advice I can on what may improve our chances of getting accepted with an agency.

I failed to mention the full past experience we had with them as I am aware this is not about that subject. Looking back it wasnt acceptable at all.

Anyway we move on and I will look for the info you suggested and shall try hard to remain positive and happy.

    Thanks again :)

I know I really ought to educate myself when it comes to my own body but I was wondering if anyone knows the answers to a few questions I have

I went to see a nurse not so long ago because of my fertility problems and she carried out an internal scan. she found a follicle in one of my ovaries and said I should be OV'ing by the end of the week. That was great news for me as I thought I do not OV at all. So me and hubby BD'd that night but that was it for various reasons.
So my last couple of cycles have been 14-16 days so I expected AF this week - it hasn't arrived yet. So my question is, if a nurse can see a follicle maturing at a good rate (she said it was a good size and that the lining of my womb was of a good thickness as well) can anything else happen to it other than OV?? Can it just sort of disappear without AF?
The nurse said to POAS on 20th if no AF as I have hycosy on 25th and I can't have that if pregnant and obviously not needed either. So really I guess I am just wondering whether I should be holding my breath and hoping that one BD has done the trick i've been trying for a year or is my cycle possibly changing again?
    Thank you

    Hi Ladies

I hope you don't mind me joining your little group.

I'm 29 and have been TTC for 12 months. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16, so started getting help very quickly. I am currently on my 3rd round of clomid:
    1. 50mg but didn't O (no follicles seen at monitoring)
    2. 100mg and O'd CD20. However, I chose to sit that one out as my sister annouced she is getting married in Austria next month and I would have been approx 36-37 pregnant at the time!
    3. 100mg, currently on CD13. I've got my monitoring scan tomorrow so fingers crossed!

If this round doesn't work, I will be having Ovarian Drilling on 28th September which has a pretty good success rate

Anyway, nice to meet you and congratulations jiblets

    Hi Star
When you are taking clomid, do you actually get monitored to see if you OV every month? Like one of those internal scans to see if any follicles are maturing???
